yea so the past like 5 times i have been to the lake i have made 0 improvement....im just super frustrated right now...because the boat i have creates a really small wake and i cant ever get enough pop to even go w2w anymore..
i tried today to work on more tech stuff but i dont go to the lake enough to get any better so im stuck to boardslides and lipslides....not so much fun...i need help lol i been looking into those water bags and stuff that u put in the cargo room to weight the boat so it plows more but my budget isnt allowing it right now
so now the boat is away for the winter season and im stuck being ticked off at myself for suckin....haha...i guess now i just got to look forward to snowmobiling |

you just need to relax and go back to the basics. I personally took it really slow (which was due, in part, to my knee injury), and sometimes I still do...it sounds crazy, but one thing I did a lot was ollie...ollie, ollie, learn that snap, get your balance, warm up your gnarly boots...I still do that frequently because they're fun and basic, and it never hurts to have a good one. Once you have that, your reentries will be amazing (ollies, shuvs and whatever else your heart desires). And if you build up your basics, it becomes a lot easier to put what you know together and figure out your next trick.
And you can still ride with a small wake. You've got flats variations, lip tricks, and even if you have a small wake, you can still do re-entry stuff. Your stuff may not be gigantic, but that shouldn't be a serious worry of yours.
Ultimately, I'd just relax and watch a video. We all have off days, and we've all had times where our progression plateaus (sp?) for a bit. But keep riding and you'll get that board control, and the more you do something, the close you become to making that trick a feeling. Once you're there, you'll get it every time.
And I"m just saying this because I don't live on a lake and I don't ride every day, and I"ve had to deal with being rusty and just feeling "off". But I've been thinking about my progression over the years, and this is what I can tell you, based on my experience. Also, I live in a seasonal climate, and sometimes it's hard to remember, but sometimes you just need to take a step back and just appreciate that you're out on the water. Winter is very painful and summer is too short, and it just isn't worth it to get bent or disappointed.
but to me, it sounds like you have a fever, and the only cure for that fever is more sfumato... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

| My way of thinking of it is a bad day on the water is better than any good day at work/school. |

Ollies on a wakeskate are a little bit different. I always did the pre-pop thing--push your front foot down and slam your tail down (it's a rhythm). after you slam your tail down, you kick your front foot forward to level it out. On normal wakeskates, like flats and concaves, I never dragged my front foot up. but I've been doing that just a touch on my bi-level and I like the results. i also like how it feels. It still isn't anything like a skateboard ollie, because I only drag it maybe an inch. But I like the nose on those bi-levels...you can catch your foot on them to help with the leveling bit.
Ultimately, it just takes confidence and commitment. The weird thing for me was reading something from george daniels--you have to "slam" your tail down. And if you want a reasonable ollie, this much is true. So slam that tail down and commit...don't hesitate on it. If your board isn't coming up as high as you'd like, that means you're not putting enough energy in it. (you get what you give, ya herd?) _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

i was having the same problem rhskates27. I just had to take a set of ollies and boardslides cause i was getting pissed . You just have to always have fun. Also if you think about only doing one thing it is hard to do it. Just don't think about the trick when you trying it and it is a whole lot easier to land it |

bmr712, word, always have fun and youll get new tricks. if you get pissed and start to think about it, it wont happen and youll get more upset. _________________ News Reporter: "What would you say to all the other kids looking to throw a party while their parents were away?"

rhskates27,
If you are kinda broke right now, a cheap way to weigh down your boat is to dig up a couple of those big rubber-maid tubs and fill them with water and put the lids on. They hold a couple hundred pounds each and dont leak. They actually do a pretty good job and dont cost much at all.. _________________ The promise of heaven out of reach.
