does it "click" when you hit the starter? if so, it's more than likely the starter solenoid. You can pick up an aftermarket solenoid through Parts Unlimited for $30. I have one here at the shop if you can't find it anywhere else. Not too sure about forum rules for me selling parts though, so if this is out of line, please inform me(moderators). A quick way to check the switch(solenoid) is to close the circuit using a screwdriver across the top of the switch. If it starts, your switch is bad. We can guess and check like this all day until i get off work at 6PM. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Joe _________________ live to ride. . ride to live. . . |

what model ski? i can tell you that i NEVER sell fuses to any of my customers(I sell sea-doo parts for a living). I would re-check your battery connections and check to make sure that both wires leading to the starter solenoid are intact. when is the last time the ski was ran? If you tell me your specific make and model i'll give you a link to the parts diagrams. _________________ live to ride. . ride to live. . . |

starter motor failure is common in those ski's. if the starter/bendix is "stuck" you can tap on it to try to free it up, just don't beat on it too hard.
try something for me. . .put your lanyard on the ski and keep an eye on the LCD guage when you hit the starter button. if the guage blinks or goes blank you have a loose electrical connection somewhere. _________________ live to ride. . ride to live. . . |

our web sight will not link directly to the electrical page, but you can look up those parts using the link from above. hope this helps
Your year has a digitally encoded lanyard. check and make sure that the little metal piece is still inside of the "cup" of the lanyard. That's probably not the problem though. I know this sounds funny, but double check to see that your battery leads are connected properly and not reversed. _________________ live to ride. . ride to live. . . |

jetcycles, we found a blown fuse by the solenoid, put it back in, and it started to smoke in another spot _________________ "it feels good being on the caboose of the progression train"

was it a typical blade fuse? i forgot there is usually a spare by the solenoid. electrical problems are hard to trace down sometimes. if it blows the new fuse, start tracing wires until you find a break/loose wire/bad ground. Let me know what you find, I'll try to help you out as much as i can _________________ live to ride. . ride to live. . . |

We're pretty sure it was the VTS smoking when the new fuse was put it. We disconnected the wiring to the VTS, and then reconnected the wires to the solenoid, and no more smoke or sparks. The lanyard still chirps, but, now we notice that when the lanyard is connected the VTS guage goes as far as it can go. the battery is installed correctly. The solenoid contacts read 12.6V with the starter button pressed or not. The fuses in the MPEM are both good.
It seems as tho our broken VTS is messing up the starter. _________________ "it feels good being on the caboose of the progression train"
