this may sound stupid but i never understood why people ride with one fin. it seems like you would want to keep the feel of your board consistant. i duno i just dont really understand _________________ "it feels good being on the caboose of the progression train"

| The only thing i could ever think of is when you are on a rail and it won't get hung up. |

| when i ride one fin i always ride the fin in the back. if the fin ends up in the front after a trick my first priority is to get it in the back again. i just like how a board rides with one fin in the back without a fin in the front. |

-LoGiK-, that makes no sense at all. I think its the other way. It should be fins or no fins. That way you dont have to set your board up a certain way to do a trick. _________________ Some people make birdhouses, some people knit sweaters. I star in high-quality pornographic films. stompin9s, very true but most boards are symmetrical. Why not take advantage of that? _________________ Some people make birdhouses, some people knit sweaters. I star in high-quality pornographic films. To each his own... |

Actually, I've heard culp's reason used before, along with the idea that the one fin set up will give you more forgiveness on switch maneuvers (maneuvers, not tricks, people). I'm pretty sure some have used the exact opposite reasoning as well...to each his own! _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

maneuvers are for pilots.
some people have varying preferences for different tricks, i.e. they like the feel of some with a fin and some without a fin, so they ride with one fin (generally in the back if the board is a-sym). this gives them the ability to do things like kickflips, body varials, straight airs (w2w), 360's (w2w), etc.. with the fin in the back, while still being able to be finless for bigspins or rail/lip tricks, and being able to leave the water without a fin and land with one on tricks like varial/hard/frontside/backside flips and 180's (w2w or otherwise).
thats why most of the people that i know that ride with one fin do it. _________________ - Bret Little

I'm simply making fun of my nerdy diction...no need to bring any pilots into this... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Cool. I just felt bad because I couldn't tell and it's not like any pilots ever did anything bad to me...I mean, I respect their heavy Gs and what not.
Of course this is all bizarre commentary and off topic, and I suspect you're coming from a similar state of mind as I am... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

conwest, sometimes, if i use "fins" its usually just one. for me it pretty much depends on the board, i always ride my catalyst 2.0 finless cause i dont ever feel like i need one, but ive been riding Reed's new board a little lately and i prefer a fin on it.
electricsnow, yes. now back to my homework, i wish i hadnt put speech off for so many years, or this speech off untill the night before. _________________ - Bret Little
