Destroy my EVA

Can I peel off the eva foam on my 107 Byerly and replace it with grip tape? The foam is starting to wear down from my shuv its, ollies, and kickflip attempts. I like the board a lot I just want different grip. Also is having grip tape like a skateboard as in if you ollie and what not it wears down your shoes?

From my experience, grip tape does not wear down your shoes from ollies, shuvits, etc. But if you're trying kickflips (sliding your foot off) then it tends to wear down a little.
