I tried searching for this, but found nothing. Does anyone know where I can buy EVA Foam for a homemade skate?

Thanks!
Mike

What about the no slip gator grip stuff? Would that work? I know it sounds newbish and I am new to wakeskating but really would it work for a homemade skate? I dont even have my skate yet is why I say this, Im gettin it tommorow so I dont know how the foam feels or anything.

Foam is the way to go if you ask me. I know most people will deny this, but if you have a wet deck and shoes on, foam definitely provides more traction than grip tape.

I disagree with that--it all comes down to each rider's personal preference. I've ridden both and I don't like the way foam makes the concave less exaggerated. Therefore, i don't ride foam.

I suspect you are a closet foam rider, electricsnow.

Don't you mean that you're a closet foam rider? (you know, since we are one in the same--refer to one of your old posts)

I actually just wanted to illustrate that traction goes beyond grip--there are other pro's and con's that go along with each, so you can't really say "foam is the best because of the grip" (just as an example). You know, the reasoning is multi-dimensional...unless you dont give a crap about the other stuff and you just want something sticky.

I actually think that grip tape is better for traction, If it's getting old replace it. Every time I step on a board with newer grip i can feel it right away

here is a thought I'm gana through out...my dads truck has that spray in bed liner( the rubberized stuff) and that stuff is stickier than shizzle...I think you can buy it in cans from auto parts stores...I wonder if that stuff would work if you put an even coat of it on top of your board. If you ride with shoes I wouldn't see any problems with traction...Just a thought.

minus_gravity,
That is a really good idea. If you try it and it works, take some pics of your progess so we can do an article about it.

Has anyone already tried it already?

I don't want to make this a foam vs grip arguement because it really is personal preference, I totally understand that the concave is less exaggerated with the foam. They have completely different feels. The grip with foam really is better than new grip tape though, when it is wet that is. I had a brand new cassette concave with grip and it really annoyed me because when setting up for wake to wakes when the deck was wet my back foot would slip all over like crazy. Personally grip tape just seems like more for me to worry about.

That Spray Grip idea is a damn good one minus_gravity, it reminds me of the grip on the Kampus decks. No actual sheets of anything.

Sshhhhh...

Kampus actually stopped doing that stuck-on grip thing after a few months, I have a Swing from last year with regular grip on it. I can see why they quit, it probably takes awhile to put it on there right.
