i remember a while back on here some one was gonna make a winch out of a pocket bike by turning the back wheel into a spool. did it ever work out? and do you think this would work? |

I'm sure somebody can loan you a jigsaw and just buy a metal blade and make it out of aluminum. |

this is exactly what i'm planning on doing... i have two and ride neither anymore.. around a 5 hourse power two stroke engine.. i'd say just use the wheel's rim.. but we'll see i'm gonna start making mine in a few days.. _________________ Wake it up.. |

i think im going to try using an old dirtbike and leave the frame in tact.....take off the swingarm and replace it with a spool.......it might work.....like those blenders with the grips and everything....so the operator has a fun setup to play with.......leave the bars on there
i think that would work better than a pocket bike....a 80cc 4stroke has roughly around 15hp so i think it might work......just strip the bike of everything but the frame motor and gas can and bars......

for the pocket bike, i know a lot of them use a CVT (not a TAV2 unit) anyone have any idea if those CVT's would hold up to the abuse a winch would see? would be a good find if they do given they are only about $50 brand new from ebay |

The pocket bike winch works.my friend and i made a mini winch for the two pools we made in his back yard before the hillbillywinch was done and it worked great for that.we welded up a little frame and made a spool out of the back rim and mounted the 50cc engine to the frame and it worked for the pools and we did it once at the golfcourse, but it does not work that great in deep water. I will post picts if its still together _________________
