nuff said check here: http://www.tahitimx.com/winch

We had the alpha test run this afternoon and it went smooooth Afro

The only thing left to do on the Tahitian Omen Winch is to have it Line Xed. I'll update that HOWTO as we get it all done.

Hope it motivates all of you guys to get your hands dirty and parade around with a pimp winch for under 1k, that's including 350 bucks 1000' of bulletline.

Thanks alot. I was planning on buying a grinch in the next couple weeks but this seems like it is worth a try. $1,000 Vs. $2300 is alot better..... And i have friends that can do the welding etc...

03belmont, well I really hoped it would convince people they can really build their own and have a killer winch!

I just got the frame back from my friend that did the Line X. Here is the frame in all it's glory!

I also updated the HOWTO with the new engine shield and the finished frame pictures. Final assembly will be in a few days to allow for the Line X to fully cure. Check it out as there will be a few tips on final assembly to fight off salt water, or just water in general Smile

Now the frame all finished:

I'm waiting on the Line X to fully dry before assembling it, and I might still change a couple things here and there, keep posted!

Thanks guys, here are the pics of the winch all finished!!! Only thing I feel like I need to change is the fairlead roller. The one I have is too narrowe, and if I can CNC cut sidewalls for the spool I'll make them smaller so I can lower the roller some more to align it with the spool better, it is slightly off right now, but it doesn't change much... well here goes:

guide also got updated with the last few steps.

Damn that flat black is filthy, and I like the Nevin handle. That joker lasts forever. Have you had a test run yet? Good luck holmes, and make a video of that rascal when you can Razz .

Raven, check the HOWTO page there is a video there, I will make a post on the general board once I got a little more dense video. The one on the page is just a winch test. Now we gonna start hitting rails (well we already have lol), beach breaks and some cool river gaps.

JamesBoardr, That's an old prototype I have, and it's not a flat. It's just like the revolt, but the whole outer shell is in carbon fiber Afro it's a bit heavier and doesn't ride as good as the production one, it is waaaay too stiff. But the blackness looked sexy next to the winch haha
