well i didnt get any meteors, but i did get some sick ass rotation of the earth.

Can you guys explain to me how this photos are taken. I guess I understand the shutter speed thing but I'm unsure as to how long you are taking the picture for? Idk, could someone just give me the lowdown.

It most certainly does. 30 seconds is about as long of an exposure as you can take of the sky before the stars start to blur due to the rotation of the Earth.

hammer49, the duration of the picture can range from 30 seconds all the way up to several hours. Basically, you set the camera on a tripod, aim it at the sky and go grab a beer. Laughing

scott a is right. You open the shutter and leave it open for however long you want. The longer its open, the more rotation you get. My pic is about 70 minutes long.

Your camera will need a bulb setting, which most film slr's have and most of the dslr have them also. most point and shoots dont have that setting
