Was just wondering what a good camera to purchase for under 1000.00 $ would be?

i have a panasonic pv gs-500 3 chip vid-cam. paid around 850.00$ for it. real happy with the quality and ease of use.
i would compare it to my old canon gl1.

MECHANICAL PULL, seconded on the PV-GS series. Quality gear for sure...

Me and my friend shot the same shot, side-by-side he with his whatchamacallit 16mm and me with my camcorder and you could barely tell the difference between each when we watched them.

lake tarpon, ya i love my handycam and the little dvd disk it records on to. Awsome quality product and picture.

skatefilly, I'd go with the sony because of the ease of use, warrenty, and cheap/ plentiful accsesories.
