|
|
Looking to make a board. Not interested in doing water dancing stuff. Want to edge hard and go W2W.
Anyways, here is my design. I would probably add a little more rocker. The outer edges would be variable. The inner channel will have variable depth and edging (channel softer and shallower toward the center gradually becoming sharper and deeper toward the ends)
Also would have 2 fins in back and 1 in front
Size=44" in length and 18" at widest point
Thoughts?

| With it curved in like that, it might be harder to grab and such, looks neato though.

I'm interested in knowing exactly how the inward curve is going to help for edging and/or w2w. I mean i don't know why it wouldn't really but... it seems kind of useless. Also if i were you i would make the tip/tail a little wider. What type of rocker do you plan on using? Since you are focused on edging and w2w i would use some pretty decent sized fins. Big skate, good idea for your intended use. Sick plan though, let us know how it turns out

| Parabolics baby. Shaped skis (both snow and slalom..I think snowboards are also shaped but I really don't snowboard) have been around for a while with the thought being that the parabolic shape increases stability but still allows you to cut hard. Maybe it will work on a skate.

Seems rather innovative, and not to discourage, but... you can go WTW on almost any board, Its all about physics, edging, loading the line, and pop

| You can also downhill on a 5" travel all mountain bike....but trust me, it is so much better when you slack the head tube angle, increase the travel and use high end shocks. Different bike for different terrain. Since wakeskates are so ridiculously cheap, there should be no reason you can't have a couple of different skates for different tricks

| When you edge wouldn't the water come across the board, like the Byerly wakeboard?

ridehatzic, I was about to ask about that. I would recommend not adding that to it, or at least not in that particular shape. I think you should just add regular wedge-type concave to it.

| The springy fulcrum is basically a one sided bi level....more fulcrum/spring = more pop (so they say)

if yur just going w2w why do u need that fulcrum? also, do u need the inward turn to be so sharp and big? maybe making it go in less and a smooth transistion kinda like a roam wakeboard/ snowboard. But way to be innovative and think somthing different than everybody else
