Here's the press release from Under 360

Lonestar Wakeskate Jam 2006 - Results
New Braunfels, Texas - August 5

The second annual Lonestar Wakeskate Jam went down August 5th at the Texas Ski Ranch in New Braunfels. This is the premier wakeskating event for the state of Texas. Despite the blistering Texas heat, the jam was even bigger and better than last year’s event. With little wind and hot temperatures the boat lake at Texas Ski Ranch was smooth as glass, providing ideal conditions for some serious wakeskate action. This year over 50 riders competed for over $3000 and prize packages from Smith Optics, Wake Culture clothing, Oak wakeskates, Liquid Force, Straightline, the Wake Shop at South Austin Marine, and The Board Shop at TSR.

The beginner division started off the day with 12 competitors, including 3 girls. There was some impressive riding for beginning wakeskaters in this division. In the end it was Nathan Kneupper taking home first place, followed by William Bryan in 2nd place and TSR own Blake Hess even got in on the action to take home 3rd place.

The intermediate division stepped it up a little allowing shuv-it variations. It was great to see the progression of some of last years Beginners stepping it up to the next level. Another 11 people competed in this division, but it was Chris Hightower taking home first place with a front-side bigspin and a plethora of other shuv-it variations. The surprise of the day was Andy Strawn who has obviously been practicing behind a Sea Doo personal water craft. Andy threw down a stellar run of back-to-back shuvs to take home 2nd place. Coming in 3rd was Dave Rowe with some clean shuvs and inside out ollie 180s.

The Advanced division might as well have competed with the Pros. These guys were throwing clean 3-shuvs, Bigspins, as well as a couple of kickflip attempts. The consistent riding of Chris Collinge earned him 1st Place honors, followed by Lance Duffett and Ben Mize in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

The highlight of the event had to be the Professional division. This division saw 13 athletes battle it out for over $3000 in cash. The riding was insane!!! It’s evident that the level of wakeskating around Texas has progressed at an alarming rate. This had to be a difficult event to judge with numerous kickflips, bigspins, shuv-its, railslide, and even a couple Varial flips! The boys from Oak wakeskates made the trip to Texas and represented well. Last years winner Clint Tompkins also made the trip from Florida to defend his title. When it was all said and done Joshua Steele from Clear Lake, Texas took home the cash for 1st place. His mastery of the obstacles in his run definitely helped him stand out above all others. After a scary fall on the flatbar, Bret Little from Austin climbed back on his skate to finish his always consistent run and take home 2nd place. Evan Lykes from Georgetown took 3rd in the Pro division with his trick amplitude and a couple flip trick variations in his run.

Not only was there amazing wakeskating action that day, but great music by a few local artists including “Man Hands”, “A Different Element” and Austin’s own “Furthest From the Star”. These bands entertained the crowd throughout the day and into the night.

This event was definitely a day to remember and showcased some of the best wakeskating in Central Texas and surrounding areas. The competitions organizers Jerry Lafferty, Kelly Mobley and Jake Adair all worked very hard to put on a successful event. Thanks to all the sponsors and participants for making the 2nd annual Lonestar Wakeskate Jam a success and stay tuned for next year as the event is poised to go even bigger!

Badluck = Bret
If there was a best trick award he would have got that too for his shoveit on to the flat bar. People went nuts for that.

- Yea lonestar was fun... i had a great time, felt i rode good but felt the judging could have been better.... i mean i dont think i should have podiumed but i still think alot of the poeple that were near the bottom... like horan i believe who through k flip 3 shuv and bs big should have been way closer to the top and some kids who only hit obstacles shouldnt have been soo high up there....

but i hit some switch shizzle, shuv, shuv off...exc and then all that reg, an i/o 3 shuv and i/o fs big in the start of a turn that was sketch!!! and then 3'd the rail and some other shizzle... but i still feel like there was a bunch of tricks to throw...

but it was a great contest and i had a blast riding in it....

the level of riding was insane....

and yes i have landed switch bs big reg and switch... i just am way more consitent on switch bs big and have only landed like 2 bs bigs reg... but i am working on it!!!!!!!!!!

hahahaha

.... wakeskating is fun....

and my herd is the shizzle.....

and jumping in the lake counts as taking a shower.... weather i smell or not....

I LOVE LONG POST!!!!!

the judging was a little off in some ways, but it was laid out in the beginning that even if you do a k-flip, a back big, and a 3 shuv, etc... you still wont win if you dont hit any of the obsticles. i really didnt think i was gonna place where i did, i didnt think i rode that great cause i didnt get to do a lot of things i wanted to, but after i thought about it i really did do a lot of things in my run, and i put good lines together, connecting tricks and including everything other than the giant a-frame.

jesse, you rode really good, and i thought you were going to beat me for sure. you definitly, and clint too, should have been placed higher than evan though.

overall the contest was awesome, great turnout, great riding, and great people. next year should be incredible.
