I have rode acouple of the shapes..... I really like the Doyle and the Pro Model, they are totally different shapes and designed for different styles of riding..... The doyle a great skate for lip tricks and rails because of its size(40.5) and construction(compressed/PBT) .... but I really like the Pro Model, even though it is a bit more cash I find it is probably the best shape on the line.... It kills for w2w, with the deep molded channels they really dig when edging into the wake and it releases super consistant....
For my preference, the Urban doesn't fit my style or my needs..... I have big feet and I find the way the top is shaped, I dont feel as comfortible on it as I do on other skates in the GB line...... The PBT base is good if you are a cable rider and are going to be rocking rails all the time....
Chase Gregory kills the Urban 41 .... but with little info that you have gave me about what YOU need out of a skate.... I would suggest the Pro Model
if you have more questions dont mind to PM me....

I have the 07 Mcguckin right now. I haven't ridden it yet so I can't say what it's like but it's got a sick shape and some of the best graphics I've seen. _________________

parky, Congrats on your sponsorship and new job.
I have an 06 Impala. I mainly bought it for the newbs who need a foam top but I enjoy riding it as well. I was pretty surprised how nice it rides.
Much respect for Gator and the entire Gator company.

carive, It is a wood deck... I honnestly couldnt tell you about its performance on cable because I have never rode on a cable myself.... but my thinking is that it would work very well because of the molded fins would help you hold a strong edge...
The Timmy K skate is sick as well..... the tip and tail are actaully flat (no concave) and the mid section is has exaggerated moldings that Tim told me at hippo was super comfortible for him and was perfect for kickflips and w2w.... here is last years board, just to give you an idea of the top shape...
88skisupreme, I would agree the Doyle/Impala have mad pop..... the doyle isnt the same EXSACTLY, it has PBT top and base for strenght on rails and added weight....
jacque_mehoff, thanks man |
