Alright!!!
I'm starting the official WS.com 2006 WORLD CUP Thread now.
http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/
The Groups are looking good. I have Germany going all the way with (a) home team advantage (b) an easy group. USA has a good team but a tough group. Should be good. _________________ Life's Kredo = "When the snake falls in love with the spagetti it's time to buy a new hat." & "I guess I need to whiskey up these corn flakes..and heroin up this Orange Juice." |

I am very excited, hopefully USA can get out of the group and do well.
I like to pick a dark horse in the world cup, and see how well they do... So my prediction is The Ivory Coast will advance from their group, and possibly make the quarters, (that means either Holland or Argentina will not advance)... |

America should do fairly well this year. We'll see how we do. I'm definately looking forward to the whole World Cup in general though. |

Soccer is NOT "ghey" and the americans are great soccer players (at least the girls).
Argentina and Brazil have the best teams on the paper but I don't think any of them will win. The tradition says that a team from the continent wins (with only two exceptions in the history and one of them was held in asia). The african nations looks weak this time except for perhaps Ivory Coast but they weren't very impressive in the African Nations Cup.
There are maybe four or five european teams who can win. It's going to be a very tough world cup this time even if the group stage seems easy for most big teams. _________________ Jazz up your life !

pipo, um... thanks for the info I guess?
I was saying I think that IC may be able to pull off a major upset and advance to the knockout stages. |

Senorbueno: The only african nation I believe has the squad to pull it off is IC as you say. Holland and Argentina are very, very good and very well organized teams. I think IC would have had a much easier time in any other group.
When the giants fall, they fall hard. Sweden knocked out Argentina the last time around and I hardly think that Argentina won't make it to the second round this time around. _________________ Jazz up your life !

freerider4, I'm definitely jealous...
Tobias_Neumann, Holland isn't going to be any easier to get by for IC I think b/c they are probably pretty hungry for not qualifiing for Korea/Japan. |

Yes, that's true. I don't think IC will make it but I hope so. I also hope Brazil wins the whole cup in style but I don't think so.
Who do you guys think will win ?
Freerider4: When and where are you going to be at ? I'm going down there as well. My plan is to wakeskate during the days and watch the games at night. _________________ Jazz up your life !

if they wouldn't put us against the best teams in the first few rounds, we might could do ok. |

That's right.......... it starts tomorrow!!!!
Costa Rica may beat the host team in the opening Game. Deutschland just lost their Captain for the opener.... I would love to see the Ticos best Germany.
Between the Hurricanes in the Stanley cup final and World Cup....June = Gavin's dead Liver.

I don't think CR will be able to upset the germans. 2-0.
What about saturdays games ? England is too much for Paraguay and T&T won't stand a chance against Sweden even if our star goalie is out.
I think the real first treat of the tournament will be IC against Arg. That game can go either way. I still hold Argentina as favorites. 2-1 _________________ Jazz up your life !
