John is the reason I got into guitar. He is a genius and the only reason the Chillis still rock.
Check out the July issue of Guitar World. He has an incredible interview, and the mag comes with a CD-Rom. If you bought the new RHCP CD, you should read the mag……if you are into that type of stuff. Also, if you bought the RHCP CD, buy Johns solo albums, they are much better. _________________ Life's Kredo = "When the snake falls in love with the spagetti it's time to buy a new hat." & "I guess I need to whiskey up these corn flakes..and heroin up this Orange Juice." |

Those two lines are complete crap...
John is most definately a genius, an absolute freak at guitar. He has been listed in many Top Ten Guitarists lists that I've seen, and I believe this is well deserved. His back up vocals are as much an intricate part of the Chili Peppers as his guitar work.
But to say he is the reason the RHCP still remain to be one of the most successful bands ever is a fairly large over exageration. The band have said Stadium Arcadium has had 25% of the work put into it by each band member.
Even though I'm not a guitar player, I might have to pick up the magazine... |

I stick by my position. Everyone else in the band has gotten stale, while John continues to grow. Flea even threatened to quite the band after the last album. Don’t get me wrong, I love the entire band, but I have to say that John is the only remaining true artist in that band. This is the first album that John fully devoted his solo-career skills to, that is why it’s a 2.5 disk release, and not the standard 12-song CD.
Listen to the solos on this album; they are unlike any other Chilli album. The 13th track on the second disk, “Turn around” I think it’s called, has a 71-channel guitar solo. It is ridiculous. Flea, Chad, and Anthony keep coming back with the same crap, while John always brings complexity. Had John died and not come back to do Californicaiton, there is no way the Chillis would have their current success – GUARENTEED! _________________ Life's Kredo = "When the snake falls in love with the spagetti it's time to buy a new hat." & "I guess I need to whiskey up these corn flakes..and heroin up this Orange Juice." |

| haven't heard the new album, but i still think "To Record Only Water for 10 Days" is one of the most amazing raw albums. 71 guitar channel solo? seems like a bit much... but then again he does some pretty off the wall stuff. |

Hell YES!
"To Record Only Water for 10 Days" is one of my all time favorite records, fo show!
when it appeared in "Yeah Right!", I knew that Spike Jonze had good taste in music. _________________ Life's Kredo = "When the snake falls in love with the spagetti it's time to buy a new hat." & "I guess I need to whiskey up these corn flakes..and heroin up this Orange Juice." |

I'll admit that Chad isn't playing to his full potential in Stadium Arcadium, if you listen to One Hot Minute, he was playing how he wanted to, not just to fit the song...
But to say that Flea and Anthony have "gone stale" is I think way too harsh, Anthony's voice has evolved, as he is actually getting voice coaching for this album... And I think it's fair to say without ANY of the members the Chili Peppers wouldn't be the same... Just look at OHM again, the songs on it are unlike any other era of Chili Peppers, and I think, even though it's a great album, had they continued like that, not a lot else would have happened with them... |

Frusciante and Blood Sugar Sex Magic is my main influence as a guitar player. John is the most emotional player I have ever heard / seen. He is a model player for "Less is More".
Try and track down the Funky Monks video, it is a documentry on the recording of the above metioned album.
The only unfortunate thing about this video is you can tell he guy is getting messed up on heroin. |

I read in an interview with Flea that he read Anthony's autobiography and found out that Anthony had banged his sister and had never said anything to him and that it had caused quite some turmoil Im pretty sure thats why he threatened to leave
