I was at The Wakeboard Camp. It was summer and I had never met anyone who enjoyed wakeboarding as much as I did (my hometown is lame). Spending a whole week with people with the same passion was going to be awesome.
One of the days we were there and taking our lunch break between sets, Aaron Reed and Patrick Hagan pulled together some junk that was lying around and built a little incline rail out of an old metal door and a crate and also had an overturned johnboat to slide. They put these in a little pool that was seperated from the lake by a lower than usual water level and ollied into it down the shore a ways, rode down the pool, hit the incline rail, then ollied onto the boat and slid back over the sand bar into the lake again. I just got to sit out there and watch with my jaw dropped, this was the first time I had seen wakeskating. I was just amazed by how much fun they were having with it and how quickly this setup came together.
Crativity and fun, this is why I started wakeskating. Thanks goes out to Aaron and Patrick for sparking my interest. Even though I didn't ride a wakeskate for another year, or own a skate for another year or so after my first ride, it's what got me started. They were both just really cool people to talk to (Aaron is also one of the most hilarious people I've ever met) and they showed me what was possible when you were having fun doing what you love.

That is why I started wakeskating.

i talked a friend into buying a wakeskate for his b day(a little messed up i know) because i had no money and i wanted to try it. i fell in love with it and it sort of became mine because he didn't even like using it. i rode it til it died and bought my own. and havent stopped since. but landing my first 3 shuv pretty much convinced me to wakeskate full time instead of wakeboard though.

i started cause i got a ski, and kirby lived right by me and he he had a skate, he called me one day and we went out and then after searching all over tampa bay we found the all mighty spot and it was all ours and we rode alot and i hated skating in the summers cause it was so hott and wakeskating was so refreshing lol
i seriously love everything about the sport too, all the companies emerging and trying to keep our sport alive and make it into one the greats!

now slyder i am going to go have a drink lol and im not posting anymore lol

I started skating because, like a lot of others it just appealed to me more than wakeboarding and opened up so many more options for progression when you don't have a boat that puts off a lot of wake. I had seen people doing it in videos and magazines and such and wanted to try it. I had been wanting to get a skate for about a year, and finally did for my bday. The first time I rode I was hooked and everytime I ride it is automatically a good day, even just cruzin around. Very Happy

To me wakeskating is the most personal form of self expression... and the second I rode a wakeskate I was hooked. Thanks Thomas for starting Cassette... Cassette was the first and only wakeskate I have ever ridden... mostly because no one I know wakeskates... so I have had no opportunity to try something different… either way I defiantly have cassette pride Very Happy

Well about a year ago I went to performance to rent some bindings because I was in the market for some new ones and while I was there I decided to rent a skate and check it out. I had never tried to skate before I had only seen it in videos. So my first day I went out I just had way more fun than I did wakeboarding and to me that was what it was all about. I went back to performance that day returned the binding and said no thank you and bought the skate instead. And I have never looked back.
