I am e-mailing all of you just to find out if, by any chance, you or anyone else that you know may have recorded the Saturday morning NBC series "Skate" ("SK8") on a VHS tape when it aired three seasons ago. I am also in the process of looking for someone who recorded all of the show's commercials, along with the ending credits at the end of every episode. "Skate" was a teen-oriented skateboarding series that was a part of NBC's "TNBC" lineup during the 2001-2002 television season. The show only lasted one season, with a total of 13 episodes filmed. The main cast included Christopher Jorgens, Adrienne Carter, Jorgito Vargas, Jr., and Blair Wingo.

If you did record this show, especially if you happened to record all of the TV commercials during every episode and the ending credits at the end of every episode, or if you happen to know someone else who was able to record this show (in particular anyone else who recorded all of the commercials and the ending credits), please send an e-mail back to me immediately. Be sure to include the total number of "Skate" episodes that you or your acquaintance recorded. My e-mail address is david_lumpkins@yahoo.com. If you did not record any episodes of this show, please DO NOT reply at all.

Thank you.

(Note: If you recorded the Nickelodeon TV show "SK8-TV" in which debuted in 1990, please DO NOT reply at all!!! I am only looking for the NBC show titled "SK8", which was on the NBC network between October of 2001 and September of 2002. Many people in the past have gotten those two shows confused with each other.)

PostPosted: Dec 06, 2004 4:08 pm    Post subject: Why I want NBC's "SK8" Reply with quote

When the Saturday morning NBC series "Skate" ("SK8") first aired on October 6th, 2001, I thought it was a boring television show. To make my situation less fortunate, I was not a skateboarding fan at all at the time. However, I made a tape-trade exchange with a friend who lives in Indianapolis during last October of 2003. I was not expecting to see any episodes of this show on any of her tapes. But for whatever reason, she happened to record one episode of "SK8" by accident. I watched that one episode of the show on Saturday, October 25th, 2003. By the end of the show, I thought that it was an awesome and very entertaining episode. However, NBC stopped airing this show back in September of 2002. As a result of that, I am searching all over the internet to find anyone who has additional episodes of "SK8", whether a person has just two episodes or the entire thirteen episodes that aired.

Why do I want "SK8", you ask? I am dying to find out how this show was like. I want to see the amazingly awesome kickflips that took place on the show. I want to see the drama that unfolded at the skateparks during the show. I want to see the skateboarding rivals that Josh Raden had to deal with. I want to see the ladies of "SK8" (Adrienne Carter, who portrays Michelle on the program, looks hot!). I want to see the professional skateboarders who made guest appearances on "SK8", like Eric Koston and Chad Muska. And most of all, I want to see the creativity side of the show and the style that the producers, camera crew, writers, and directors were able to come up with to put together a program that
deals with skateboarding.

Also, I'm not the only person who never really got the opportunity to watch "SK8" when it originally aired three years ago. My cousin, Edward Crean, Jr., also falls into that category. He can't wait to see how this show looked like, either.

I truly encourage you to help both of us out as much as possible. I'll be over his house this weekend (that's December 10th through the 12th). So if you did record "SK8" on NBC, please help us out by packaging up the videotape(s), go to the post office, and sending the tape away to the address listed below:

EDWARD CREAN, JR.
12 COUNTRY CLUB BLVD.
LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ 08087-1830

Once the tape(s) arrive at Edward's house, he will make copies for both himself and me. If you want your tape(s) returned, Edward and I will be more than happy to do that for you.

I am not violating any copyright laws. I would be if I took a tape straight from NBC Studios, but I'm smarter than that.

Thank you.

This reminds me of the time I tried to sell and Classic Edsel on ebay. I got these frantic emails from Nigeria (I knew that they were from Nigeria because I ran a traceroute on the IP addresses). I was selling the car for 12gs CND. They were going to send me 20gs. I was to pocket the 12gs, ship the car and send them a cheque for the remaining 8gs. Needless to say that, this was a money laundering scheme, and I told those dudes to go screw themselves.

I don’t think that this is a money laundering scheme, but something does seem a little off??

Dude! Are you at least on the TV show? Or, you just really want to see it??

something sounds a little fishy...that explanation sounds like BS. That show was so stupid...and unless this guy is off his gord...there is no reason for him wanting these tapes (it only lasted one season for a reason)....i smell an ulterior motive. pending lawsuit? do you need some evidence or something? what is so important about the credits and commercials? Plus...im pretty sure that if you made a phone call to the good ppl at NBC...they would have copies of it available for sale...but thats not what you are looking for is it??? Because those versions wouldn't have commercials... Cool P.I. Matt French is on the case...

Because when one person starts calling someon names, everyone feels they have to do the same. I don't think it is necessary.

To answer "JonnyUTAH's" question, yes, I do want to see the show. I'm a huge die-hard fan of the competitive sport of skateboarding. I'm not an idiot; I'm just fighting for a TV show that I'm totally psyched about. I badly want this show. Period.

I did see a few previews of "SK8" from some other NBC shows that used to air in the "TNBC" lineup back in 2001, which answers the question as to why I was hoping to find someone who recorded the show commercials. From what I witnessed, "SK8" seems like an extraordinarily awesome television show! I think that it has a strong potential to be one of the best programs in the history of modern-day television. I have only seen two out of the 13 total episodes. I feel like I should at least see the other 11 episodes before judging if this show was excellent or awful.

All of you folks can do me a favor by asking your friends, parents, and/or co-workers if they record "SK8" on NBC. If they did, then they should e-mail me at david_lumpkins@yahoo.com. If they did not record "SK8", then they should ask any of their other friends and keep passing this information along. C'mon, somebody has to have it on tape. The more help I get, the better my chances are of picking up these tapes!

Even though you might think that "SK8" is a terrible show does not mean that I think the same. Believe me, "Cassette941", this show is not that bad. If it really was stupid, it would not have been on the air.

There's only one show currently on television now in which we ALL think is ridiculously stupid, and that's "The Jerry Springer Show". All other TV shows, including NBC's "SK8" from three years ago, had a good purpose for being on the air and providing viewers with quality entertainment.

I will continue to fight for this show from now until the day that a U.S. Space Shuttle reaches the extreme end of the solar system. I am way too legit to quit!
