I recently acquired a grinch winch. I want to buy the 13hp chinese engine and tav2 on it. Has anyone ever put that large of an engine in the grinch frame? Trying to figure out if the mounts are the same or if I am going to have to make a mount plate. It has the chinese 6.5hp on there now. It pulls up to 180lb riders good, but over that weight and the thing is struggling to even plane the rider out. |

the engine mounts will be different with a larger engine. If your going to upgrade your engine to a 13hp you will need to get a tav40, your tav2 (tav30) is only engineered up to 8 hp. Tav40 is the same thing as your current tav2 except that its made for bigger engines.
you could try a different gearing ratio to get more power or buy a hop up kit to increase the hp. Also increase your spool's diameter can help your speed. _________________ ~ www.integrity-wake.com ~ www.iwinchglobal.com ~ |

I think the motor is on its last leg. It has been hopped up to some extent. It has a header and I think the main jet. Not sure about the governor or timing advancement. If I need to replace the engine I just wanted to do it with a larger motor to alleviate stress on the engine.
With an eleven or thirteen horse, do I need to install a 10 or 12 tooth countershaft sprocket? If I'm using the stock spool sprocket. I will count the teeth on it tonight and post it up.
We are in the process of building a rail park, we have been using it everyday. If the rider falls off the first obstacle we want to be able to plane them out quickly so they can hit the next thing. The owner of the ponds rides strapped in, but has been trying to ride the skate. He doesn't know how to get up to well, plus he is around 225lbs. I'm trying to get him to like the idea of using his ponds as a rail park.

I have to argue this point, I have been using a TAV 30 on an 11HP engine for 2 years now with no problems, this could be due to the fact that we dont use our engines like others do therefore reducing the overall strain, that particular winch will deep water start our 280lb friend and has speeds up to 35mph with smaller riders
