i knew this was gonna come up. lemmon's wasn't as clean as nick's but he was first so i def give him huge props for it. technically ryan's spins in a more hardflip like motion. i still think frye summed it up the best with his post:

Frye wrote:
a hardflip is a front shuv and kickflip. the backflip think is a front shuv and a kickflip. its the same thing. the backflip thing is also argued in skateboarding as whether its really a hardflip or not because they dont look much alike but the board still does the same thing, a front shuv with a kflip. with the backflip thing riders just did that to add style.

Ask any "real" skateboarder and they will tell you the same as most here... a hardflip is the combination of a fs shuv and a k-flip... plain and simple, its the of the two trick combination that makes it a "true" hardflip.

Nikkie... what that pic shows could be called a "lazy hardflip" but the term of the the board going vertical between the legs is most commonly called a "Illusion Flip"

I will put my 18 years of skateboarding on this... and if anybody wants to argue this, look at any video of Rodney Mullen the board will go slightly vertical but it is the combination of the two tricks, and well he invented it so you cant argue with that.

RUSSIAN, word. There's actually two styles of hardflip, and if you watch really closely they are the same thing. I personally think the flat spinning kinds (like on a wakeskate) look better anyway.

no if it flips sideways it is an inward kickflip(frontside shuvit with a kick flip)

nick taylors's is an inward kickflip

oh and by the way, the "hardflip" on the wakeskate is a kickflip with a front shuv. Look closely at the sequence of rodney mullen. he does a front shuv with the opposite direction of a kickflip.(kind of a heel flip).

yeah, I was about to say this too... it looks like rodney (*bowing while saying the name of the godfather*) is doing an outward heelflip out on this one: back shuv with a heelflip... or a fakie inward heelflip

Son on a hard flip the skate will be sticking straight up right? I know its bad quality. But looks straight up to me. Remember these pics are from two differnet angles.
