I have to write a rather substantial term paper for my Comparative Politics course on the future of the Chinese; Nation; politics; and gov't.
there seems to be alot of intelligent ppl on this site...especially when it comes to poli-sci...so i thought i'd try and broaden my persepective with some of your input.
If you have any thoughts or comments...please help me out by sharing them...i need to make this paper as analytical as possible...and sometimes i'm just too narrow minded on my own. |

Matt_French, China used to be communist, but ever since Hong Kong went back to their control, they seem to be more and more capitalist, the down side is they still maintain "Iron Curtain" style governmental practices, so they have a high number of sweatshops, where people are being payed much less than a living wage, but thats pretty much all I got on the subject, that is far enough from a rant to be useful for a term paper _________________ why dont you try playing hide and go Fvck yourself |

kento911, you'd be surprised. China is still communist in every aspect except economy. They run their economy a lot like a capitalist government.
On another note, has anyone heard about this senate bill #5? Supposedly if it is passed, it will allow government to, for lack of a better word, interfere in business. Can anyone say SOCIALISM? |

i am educated in China's history...it's their future that i am interested in. Like...what government do you think is best suited handle china's rapid economic changes and stronge international business profile? Could a dictator or autoritarian style gov't aid china to become a stronger nation? or is democracy in China's future? Im interested in hearing where you think China is going as a nation... |

Frye...sorry...i will try to clarify the question i am asking...
China seems to be evolving as a nation faster than any economic power before it...seven11dmd, no...its not quite like the United States...there are many differences. China has a few major key resources that make it different from any other country in the world...one being the large labour force that is cheap...on a world scale...another is there advanced technological resources...and a third is the large amount of capital that the chinese gov't seems to have. there are more...but for the sake of simplicity...
China's rural area is quickly depleating and feeding the capitalsit system with more cheap labour. China's disadvatage is their lack of natural resources. However, they seem to be compensating for that just fine by procuring resources from other countries...example...the acquisition of Norranda Inc. by the Chinese government. For those of you who don't know...Norranda Inc. was one of Canada largest natural resource supplier. It was know for is nickel and copper i believe...but is also had everything thing from forestry divisions...to minerals. This is what i think is really interesting/scary about China. They now own the fruits of Canada's land. In a hypothetical scenerio...should Canada ever run out of those resources and all that was left was those held by the Chinese gov't...they would obviously have the right of them. This one event may seem insignificant...but you need to think big pricture. If China keeps buying all of the resources around the world to be able to feed its large labour force...it will be unstopable.
As far as i am concerned (this will prolly P.O. some individuals) but the American economy is stagnant compared to China. Not to mention the fact that China is emersing much faster than the united states ever did...here is a little fact...every month in China...an urban area pops up with the populous magnitude of Houstan.
The point of this babble is thus;
What gov't structure do you think is best adept at handling China's economic movement? What do you think China is capable of, as a country? |

If it helps, my Government teacher is President of my University as well as a former US senator who was in charge of the Intelligence Committee under George Bush Senior, and back when he was still in Congress, he spent some time in China speaking with a head Government official (my teacher wouldn't name any names) who believes that China is developing economically like how Tawian developed over the past century. Wow, I just said a lot with out saying much at all... |
