el, crails and nuclear grabs are different. a crail is when the back hand grabs the toe side of a board near the nose. a nuclear is like a crail but you grab the heel side of the board near the nose with your back hand.

wakemitch, i think el knows that they are different grabs.

el, im not too familar with the development with grabs and such and am certainly not familiar with grabs in skateboarding(being much more of a street skater) but i do thinks grabs have gotten really messed up. im kinda confused on how you can grab crail on a skateboard, would you be grabbing like your front toe/shoe because i thought crail was a back hand grab on above your front foot? also do you have any pictures of people doing nuclears seatbelts or crails on a skateboard? as i said im not into vert so as far as i know these grabs arent done or are not common. so many people in wakeboarding mess the seatbelt grab up. every snowboard site ive seen has said seatbelts are grabbed on the tail but this isnt very easy on a wakeboard so they changed it to being a back hand grab on the nose. and nuclears from snowboarding got carried over, which are grabbed on the side of the nose because the nose is longer than the tail unlike wakeboards. so wakeboarders kept this placement.

This may be true in wakeboarding... In the beginning of my post, I said "let's talk skateboarding". I won't dispute what you said about wakeboarding, I'm going from what I've learned from skateboarding. Go grab a skate mag and look at a pic of somebody doing a crail slide. More often than not they are grabbing in front of their front foot, past where the kicktail bends upwards, making it the nose area. Skateboarding is a lot more general about that stuff. Around here anyway, they are called either crails/nuclears when you grab in front of the front foot. I honestly don't know how that would carry into wakeskating, so call that stuff what you like I guess, it is a sort of grey area...

And this was the only picture I could find of a crail slide, Kay-Kay...

I mean when you're leaning that far over to grab infront of your frontfoot with your back hand, it's prettymuch always a nose-area grab. And crail is a much more common name.

El, techincally is a nuclear an "other hand method" (that's what the wakeboarders like to call that trick). I don't know if I've ever seen a nuclear done on a skateboard, but crails are supposed to be on the nose.

But in this one option ad, travis williams was basically doing a palmer with his back hand and I was like "what's that?" I've come to the conclusion that that's a "true" nuclear. Do you know anything about this? Wakeboarding has so many weird trick names it's unreal...

I am almost positive that a judo is a method with your front foot kicked out in front of you.

concusionfilms, brandn, Those both look really good.

Concussionflims, not quite. A benihana is grabbing tail with your back hand and hanging your back foot off, the further off the cooler.

And I don't think that's a judo, you have to be grabbing with your front hand on the heelside of the board(sometimes on the nose is fair game too depending on who you ask), extra points for methods, and kicking your back foot straight out, like you're kicking a can off your deck.

That's still super sick though. I don't even know what that would be called... maybe a stale-hana (benihana, except with a stalefish, if your back foot was staightened out that might be a legit name) Laughing

concusionfilms, i believe madonna is a nose grab.
electricsnow, i guess you could say its an "other hand method" except you dont have to tweak it out like a mehtod but same spot. so many tricks have been bastardized. it wouldnt be that big of a deal if people didnt use trick names for the wrong trick. do you think lemons should call hardflips lemon flips now? that would sound cool. I liked this thread so I'm bringing it back. Can anybody throw up some tips on the benihana? It seems to be one of those mental tricks.
