A bit strong to come on to a website and just flat out say it sucks if you're still frequenting it enough to post within a day of a new topic. This site has years of history in it, from some of the greatest online fights on the web to watching guys like Nick come up literally through posting videos on this site. I'm with most the people who said social media has taken some of the steam from it. But I think that would be true with most forum boards compared to the mid 2000's when these things were the only outlet.
I felt wakeskating set itself up for disaster when it decided to hate the major publications that supported the sport before it was a sport. I don't see wakeskating anywhere anymore, maybe that's because I'm not looking as hard as I was in the past. But I feel the wakeskate only publications have slowed or just stopped totally, and the wakeboard outlets aren't putting anything out either. So it's just kind of in limbo at least from my point of view. Hopefully T.J. is right and wakeskating can find another way for the guys who are still pushing it everyday to keep pushing it.

I wandered around the site sections page for 3 years before I figured out you could click the "forum Topics" button.
As alex said, everyone around us is just cruising around on skimboards now including myself. It's just easier to cruise but I'll still do w2w big spins and 360s so I still get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

pumpyourbreaks, as far as mags go, wakeskating is definitely not in there as much! One could probably count on one hand the number of pages of wakeskating are in each mag. There also aren't wakeskate ads in there...I guess whatever pays the bills. Union, however, has a pictoral featuring the nike wake trip from last fall, and a remote ad. one bright spot!
But yeah, you're totally right--wakeskating does not have much of a presence in print.

Saw that as well. Turned out awesome. Ian Reid killed it on that trip. Stoked on Union right now.

It is to bad that wakeskating has died for the most part. It was and is a great sport. I miss having all the options of companies and board choices, wood, composite, etc... Hopefully it will regain its popularity back.

I think you have company options--it's just that generally, it's not the same options you had back in 2007 or whatever. The longest standing brands are probably wakeboarding brands. And I think nowadays, construction is based on popularity and preference. It's not a bad thing. There are people riding wood boards who never said they would (woah!), and they're actually made a lot better than they used to be. They're heavier, but they actually work very well once you get used to them. I rode my cassette bi-level for my nephew today and it's crazy. I've been riding a watermonster for the past summer and it took me a while to get used to it...it's actually heavier than my bi-level (which seemed like a tank for the time) but wider...it was nice riding that cassette for a bit and it reminded me of everything I loved about it, but I'm more comfortable on the Wm and totally dig it. SO! Try the new boards that are out there, because we're in a pretty good place right now.

I think a bunch of different options are sort of a bad thing. Even if wakeskating is "dying" I don't think that lack of goofy shapes and board materials is a sign of it. Wakeskating is finally getting to somewhat of a standard shapes and construction - to me that's a good thing.
