Does anyone ride Byerly or Hyperlite skates? To my understanding they're essentially the same company at this point. I understand Byerly's personal contributions to wakeskating are huge, but it seems like as a brand they've become somewhat irrelevant. My oppinions are just based off content coming through here and other wakeskate outlets online so correct me if I'm wrong. |

I just think they're a little behind the game. To follow scott buchard on instagram is pretty interesting...he takes a lot of pride in his work and i think he's trying to build some great boards. This coming season byerly boards and grubb are riding butch designed skates. They wouldn't necessarily be my first choice but i respect what he's doing. And it's cool to see grubb and byerly on wood decks. It just reminds me of the good ol' days.
I think there's no question that, as far as the core market is concerned, people respond more strongly to the actions and image of the smaller wakeskate specific brands. I think their focus and commitment have created meaningful results to the wakeskate population. I guess it's about producing and pushing, and not just existing.
Or so i feel. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I've been riding a couple Heritage decks that the rep gave me (maybe he was tricked into thinking I'm decent at riding?) It's a fun shape, the kick tails are a little flat and the concave doesn't go far enough into the board for me. The new shapes look a lot better. Hopefully they hold up better as well. |
