wow, havnt seen a fin or no fin thread in years! kinda nostalgic haha
I really didnt think anyone used fins anymore, besides lock in types.
most board companies dont even provide fins anymore. |

i ride one fin.
it helps me pop all my shuv tricks and it allows me to catch my board. some tricks i do with out the fin. but most i do with. when i do shuv tricks with out the fin my board starts to spin before i even get the board out of the water. and i don't get the pop i am looking for. i feel it helps with flip tricks as well b/c it keeps the board straighter so my flicks can be more consistent. i do pop my heelflips without the fin. b/c i feel the trick for those is almost having your board break edge before you pop so your heel will flick the right part of the board.
i am a big fan of the fin. |

fins are in! haha. honestly I haven't rode with a fin in years and I've been thinking of throwing one on to play around with. Last fall I hit my first gap and I felt like I wanted to put a fin on to help for those landings because it felt so different than any other way I had landed before that. Also just thinking about different ways I throw different tricks and maybe a fin would help with landing. It's interesting to hear what ben said above because I never thought of it in that way. I see a bunch of pics with ben, the pasturas, and other pros with one fin in. Also for example I wouldn't have a fin for hitting the cable rails, but maybe just flats tricks, and the gap like I said. I don't know I haven't rode with a fin in years I think I'll go have some fun with it. |

Hey guys I didn't want to open a can of worms!!!!!Im gonna keep riding with fins!!!!If any of ya happen to pass through northeast Al let me know so we can ride.I also have a miniramp,if ya skateboard.....I'd post pics but its kinda hard when you have to get your wife to pull ya yo!Either way wakeskating is fun and its a great thing for aging skateboarders like me who live on a lake...........endless downhill ride....Fellas I took the fins off a caralyst urso(it's the one with a pirate ship type graphic) and put em on my new skate. Before that I had some flat board that a friend gave me.....scraped off the foam and gripped it.Hope you all keep this artform going. |

I had to use fins when learning toeside wake to wake because on landing i just kept slipping off my edge and face-planting but after that I never used fins. Not even for w2w stuff. _________________ ---------------------------

no fins. my fortenberry has the channel and I feel it gives me the stability I need but still allows the looseness I want. I don't understand why other companies don't try a slight channel system... |
