just finished our new winch for 2011:
-16 HP Honda with dry clutch
-200 m dynema rope
-shimano discbrake
-WIG welded aluminium frame
-full aluminium spool

crankshaft sprocket is 12 teeth
spool sprocket is 52 teeth
inner diameter spool is ~ 23 cm / 9.05 inch

peterpan, that thing looks super solid! how come you didn't go with the tav 40 like we did on our big bertha? 16horses on a fly wheel clutch seems kinda brutal!
have fun testing it out! |

peterpan, good to hear. Your gearing sounds like it would pull really fast at top speed.
I'm working on mine and this gets me stoked! Can you lift it by your self? |

JB_CANSKATE, it pulls very fast at topspeed - deep water start is no problem aswell.
you can lift it easily alone |

how does that hawse fairlead work out for you? i've only used a roller fairlead, but i want to use the other kind - just worried it'll get eaten by my rope... _________________

we used that hawse fairlead for the first time. unfortunately it is still pretty cold in germany so we had no chance to test it. but i think it should work just fine. |
