|
|
Me and most of my friends are leaving wakeboarding and selling our boats (mine is sold!). Wakeskating is just way more fun these days and now i want to get a ski to get the good water.
A few guys i know that skate behind SeaDoo GTX wake editions and say that whatever i do, don't get a 2 stroke. I haven't gotten much more explanation than that though.
I understand that a 4 stroke has more low end torque but some of these 2 strokes have plenty of power to pull a rider up. Are they just to hard to keep at a constant speed?
There is a pretty good deal on one of these in my area.

2 stroke are just more of a hassle and seem to burn more gas than 4 stroke so I think thats why they said that. _________________ http://www.wakeskateclips.com/ |

It all depends on how much money you want to spend. Four strokes do use less gas but if you have a smaller budget a 2 stroke gets the job done. I have a 1997 seadoo gtx and she runs like a champ and pulls great even with a spotter on the back.
If the carbs get clogged yes they can be harder to keep at a constant speed. But all you have to do is run carb cleaner through it and she works just fine.
My friend has a 2009 215 wake edition and you have the fether the throttle with it when pulling someone just like you do my 97. it all depends on how hard the rider cuts honestly because if they cut hard it pulls the jetski which slows it down some. |

I have a 2 stroke '94 gtx and 4 stroke '03 gtx and id much rather use my '94.
If someone gave me a 2011 wake edition, i'd still use my '94. Shes my b!tch _________________ When it rains, it pours. |

| 2 strokes are cheaper to fix, easy to tune if they have a carb. |

i feel like the 4 strokes are easier to keep a constant speed but the 2 strokes are def better for bigger guys off the start. i am about 200 and ride a bi level and can get up behind the wake edition, but it took me a little bit to get the hang of getting up behind with a bi since it plows tons of water.
long story short, if i had the money to but a nice new wake edition i would be all over it. |

My 4 stroke uses alot more gas than my 2 stroke did..
I'd deff stay away from 2000-2003ish SeaDoo 2 strokes, they seem to be notorious for having problems. |

If money isn't an problem get a 4 stroke.
If you want to save cash and have a ski that you will be able to fix 90% of the problems yourself because your a man...................... get a 2stroke.
I had a 99gtx forever and it ran great. I also used to work for a dealership for along time, so if you have any mechanical questions hit me up. _________________
