I just bought a GoPro and was wondering if anyone had any tips they've learned since using theirs. I/m wondering what to put in the lens to keep water off it. Even ways to hook it up.
Hope everyone is excited for summer! I sure am! I tired of smelling like a wet suit! _________________ OTT, West West Yo

OTT Productions, Lick the lens every now and then to keep it water repellant and clean.
Don't ever wear a helmet cam.
Don't clamp it to your board.
Be creative with it, it's a great little camera when used right. It's a novelty when not.

plus one for licking the lens.
make a pole mount for it. sooo many uses for this little thing. just have fun with it,
Ive only got to use mine for wakeskating twice. (due to lack of riding period) I haven't even touched the surface of what can be done. I did the board mount and it looks wild. especially if you have it on the tail pointing backwards. Helmet mount is cliche and pretty boring. I put it on the rope facing back, but its hard to keep still. I built some gyroscope kind of thing that I am gonna try next time I ride. _________________

well its pretty humid here so the air has alot of moisture in it, so if urs ever foggs up make sure u seal it in air conditioning, i leave it on the dash of my car right infront of the vents for 5 mins then seal the camera in the case in the cool air. hopes this helps in the futre. _________________ shred till ur dead |

Thanks you guys!! I just got it today and can't wait for tomorrow to test er out on the water! Already did some driving with it. I put the footy in FCP and I had to render it. Is it normal for it to take forever to render? Do I need to adjust a setting? Thanks again I'll post a video soon.
Oh also main thing, does it float? _________________ OTT, West West Yo

HD video takes a bit to render on FinalCut, it's a lot of digital in-fer-mation to work with.
Since there's not much air, it can be taken to great depths in the water, but it doesn't float...

Guess I better max my RAM out then! Thanks Nick!
Have you tried to mount in on the handle with the other attachments? Say the role bar mounts? I went ahead and bought all the other mounts so I can test out all forms of recording life! Too bad 32GB card is all it can handle and it doesn't even give you that much record time.... _________________ OTT, West West Yo

OTT Productions, I've been getting a decent amount of recording time compared to battery time with an 8GB card at 60fps. Just shoot semi-intentioned clips, instead of just letting it roll... The only attachments I've done have been to electrical tape it to the end of a 6 ft. pole, which has delivered some sick results. The best stuff we've got so far has been hand-held...
I helmet cammed for an hour once _________________ √ |

nick, Tomorrow will be the test. I did get an extra battery, little sad it didn't come with a charger. I like that pole idea. I've seen some sick stuff with that snow/wake/base jumping. I think that a stock way, or will be. Like the hand held idea. Bummer not a floater. I'll look into high dense foam.
I did a helmet cam back in 03 I think maybe 04 and it had a lifevest that held a water proof box with the camera in it, then a wired camera afixed on a helmet with the cord. I guess it old school lol. I hated falling with it.. and it was cable so walking back _________________ OTT, West West Yo

I was talking to the guy that distributes them in Australia last week and he recommended putting a strip of bright tape across the back and top of it just in case it does end up on the bottom of the lake or whatever you have a bit better chance of spotting it. _________________ www.paperlaneblog.tumblr.com/

m-rod, That is a good idea. I was watching some youtube "Tricks and Tips" 3 part videos and they make a floaty for it. It looks like any ol key float for your boat. But need two if using HD. I hope I don't loose it to the water Gods! They already have taken from me. lol _________________ OTT, West West Yo

attaching it to a pole is the sure way to go! so many great angles.
we attached it to a RC plane on 420 and i think it has some potential. This was our first time trying it, so it wasn't a great success. http://vimeo.com/11098338 |
