They're mainly for running. Expensive running shoes with lots of padding aren't good for you.

Alot of people in the Military waear shoes similar to this. It helps with people who run long distances on non track surfaces from getting shin splints...

The whole 'barefoot running' thing is meant for those with healthy feet. If you're seeing a PT for something then obviously you should take care of your feet and I would imagine that wearing the advised type of shoes would be a necessity similar to wearing knee brace after a knee injury.

My previous post was meant to shine light on the minimalist shoe approach. The human body has been around for thousands of years, and it's only in the last 30 that we've had these really cushiony running shoes. I don't think they're needed and there's plenty of science to support the idea (though I'm hesitant to go running around the block w/out shoes). A very minimally padded shoe is fine by me.

They look like they would be fun to walk around in but they are hideous.

the grip on these things lasts so long and they dont get waterlogged. PLUS you get extra flick on your flip tricks because you can really extend your pinky toe to get maximum flicking leverage.

I knew someone who wore those for a while (he was kind of a strange kid). They ended up hurting his feet after a while, or he just told us that when he realized how ridiculous they look.

years ago nike designed a shoe with a split toe and it was inspired by barefoot runners. It was the nike air rift. (yes, I bought them!) but they look a million times less creepy than these.

I was going to say those shoes above look like crocs but more creepy.

yes, creepy!
