Amor ... omnia = Love conquers all.
Iginis = fire.... something like fire tests gold?
Tertium quid = third thing .... like not divine nor human..

The rest, it'll take me a while longer. My highschool and college Latin is a little rusty.

Ovid's 'Metamorphoses' is a beast. It is a little quirky to read because the Latin to English translation is not perfect. The stories are very interesting though.

ETA: Lux et veritas = light and truth.

and the list goes on. the anchor, the 2 feathers, the fleur-de-lis, etc... I don't think that one line was made without a meaning behind it and to see it all come together the way Erich and Nick collaborated with the design for this board is amazing

Is a quote from Shakespeare's Ovid: The Metamorphoses, 1. 85-86
translation: He bid them look at the sky and lift their faces to the stars.

Ignis aurum probat - Fire tests gold is the literal translation.
It's part of a quote from the philosopher Seneca.
It reads in full "ignis aurum probat, miseria fortes homines.
translation:as gold is tempered by fire, so strong men are tempered by suffering".
Which means, that in order for gold to become pure, the original ore must go through the tempering process of fire. So for a man to be strong in spirit, adversity and suffering are the tempering agents necessary to refine his character and bring out his true potential..........or something like that Smile

aww nahh two years ago i could translate the whole of the baucis and philemon bit of metamorphoses...i knew i recognised the sentence about lifting faces to stars
it annoys me so much that i don't know it now Sad
