I currently have an Onset as my bi-level but now I'm looking for a good concave I can hit the rails/flat box with. Last season, for a month at least, I had an LF Anthem and liked it but the bottom got shredded pretty easily. So I need something that can handle 4-5 months worth of cable riding. I'm thinking a composite will hold up better but what do you guys think? I'm looking at the Gator Doyle, LF Mod (too expensive most likely), Hyperlite Vinyl... any others I should look at? Integrity would be sick but they're just too expensive. I don't want to get into too much cash as it's just a board to shred. The Onset will be my boat/trick board but I want to keep it that way instead of killing the underbelly. Unless someone knows of a good treatment I can coat under it for this use. I don't care about the graphic or keeping it looking cool... it's about the ride, not the look IMO.
Open to conversation here... let me hear it! _________________ Fake it till you make it.

not exactly the response I was looking for. Who makes the "This thread hurts my head" skate?
And before anyone tries to say, yes I read the thread in the Cable Riding forum but the catalyst was the only board recommended without explanation and apparently that guy only recommends that board. I'm looking for other options... I'm not a forum newb. _________________ Fake it till you make it.

I've never understood why people want to do this. It makes no sense to me. It's a wakeskate, ride it until it's dead, get another one. What's the point of saving the graphics on your "boat board"? Just being in the water is going to take it's toll, rails or not. _________________ -Paul |

The hyperlite models work pretty well, I use my catty when I ride cable and my friend has a vinyl that rides basically the same just different types of concave. But what ever floats your boat is fine. I also have in impulse and an oak team but I prefer the catalyst for cable, probably because I like the durability of the composite skate.

He clearly isn't trying to preserve the graphic here, just the actual wakeskate. Not everyone has money to constantly buy a new wakeskate.
Toxis, I wish I knew how any of those boards rode but I've only ridden wooden wakeskates and a few integrity wakeskates. For what it's worth, the integrity team wakeskates are like 335.00 and the PBT base is really durable. And this is a weird thing to point out, but that wakeskate was seriously the most fun board I've ever carved and surfed around on. It was a great feeling.
Otherwise, at the very least, I can get you some pics of the doyle and the MOD because I have a bunch, from rail shots to the concave and kicktails, etc. Looking online, the mod is coming in at ~300.00 but it comes with some fin accessories (4) for noseslides, blunts, etc. I think those would come in handy at the cable. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

So he's buying another wakeskate so that he doesn't have to get another one when he 'shreds' the one he already has? _________________ -Paul |

Uidzero, why does it even matter to you? It's his board choice and his money. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Seriously, This message board is has a lot of a$$ ho1es!! this dude is just asking a question. who cares if he wants 2 boards or 10??
I don't have any advise for you dude, I've only ever ridden a few boards.. and I don't ride cables often. but if you want a board to beat up try to find something used in the classified or ebay.
Good luck! |

I see why electricsnow is a moderator. He actually reads everything... it's hilarious to read so many people say "Why have different boards? That's stupid, just get one board and shred it." But on other threads, people talk about having 4-5-6 different boards. I don't see the issue. I want different skates with different feels for different things. Nothing wrong with that I see. At least electricsnow noticed I said I don't care about the graphic and it's more about having a board that can slide well and last where a typical wood board (my old Anthem) needed help. I want something that'll slide where I feel the Onset being a wood base will not slide IMO. So anyone have experience riding rails? _________________ Fake it till you make it.

I will keep the vinyl in my thoughts...
Also thanks to the others who have helped. I keep hearing about the Omen and about New skates. Do they have a protective bottom that helps keep it sliding? Just trying to learn here! Thanks. _________________ Fake it till you make it.

I have a bunch of boards... Almost all of them are broken or something that I'd never ride anyway. Wood boards slide just fine. I hate switching boards once I'm used to one so I tend to stick with one until I'm done with it. I couldn't careless if you want to buy 10 boards, I just think having one for cable and one for boat is kinda stupid.
