Question about a hyperlite skate

Could some of you tell me about the Hyperlite Karma wakeskate. What year was it produced, selling price new, wood or composite? Was it a fairly good skate?

I did a search and came up with 5,209 results. Yea, I don't think so.

I didnt like the skate, really narrow at the nose tail, but it is composite and probably like 7 or 8 pounds

Its not for me, a friend wanted some info on it. I am trying to talk him out of it.

it is the same as the gate byerly used to ride. it's about 5 pounds, mostly flat deck with foam. stay away

mojo, Byerly didn't ride it, BT did. Byerly had his own board that whole time.

there is some footage of byerly riding it. He's doing a bluntslide-type maneuver on the wake, among other things. (but that was a hype-up picture and it's what I remember, because that board opened up a new "gate" for new tricks!!!) it might be in one of the retrospect hidden bonus sections...I feel certain I've seen it somewhere. The thing is, it was kind of a team designed board--byerly, grubb, and parks and shaun were thrown in there. but as nick said, byerly and grubb had their own pro models at the time.

I'm pretty sure it also came out as an 04 deck, but there were a lot of "internet discussions" about it before that because of the interesting kicktail configuration and such.

if you look, most people--even bt--ended up modding that board and chopping the kicktails off because they were basically ineffective. I'm sure there are better boards out there for your friend than a gate/karma. Figure out why he wants it and then present an alternative solution! Razz
