atreyu sucke live really. anyone whos tired of the sappy emocore bands, cheezy death/black metal bands, and cargo shorts wearing/ xxx chanting scene bands....listen to 18visions. vanity is my favorite cd of all time. they do their own thing. the new cd is more rock and pretty good but its got nothing on vanity. go buy it and read the lyrics too. eighteenvisions puts on one of the best shows youll ever see too. |

Yea I listen to the more emocore/screamo stuff, but I also like old Poison the Well (i.e., Opposite of December... hate their new stuff), Eighteen Visions, As I Lay Dying, From Autumn to Ashes, and Underoath- I got their new CD "They're Only Chasing Safety" the night it came out (I also met them and 18visions that night and got a signed tour poster), I actually like that one more than "The Changing of Times". That and they're from Tampa, and Poison the Well is from Ft. Lauderdale (my hometown) so that's a plus... |

I am more of a fan of Underoath's older stuff, mostly Cries of the Past. I like how it is pure unabashed rage, it goes together well and makes me want to get annihilated. One thing I love is how they throw the whole verse-chorus-verse thing out the window and just wrote the lyrics more like a page out of a book.
Changing of Times was kind of weird, pretty hit and miss with the whole mixing a metal-esque sound with more poppy elements. Not bad, but not my favorite.
Chasing Safety bums me out. Underoath is now a completely different group of guys save the drummer, and they have a completely different sound than what they started as and made such a fan base with. And I don't especially like it.
The old singer, Dallas Taylor who was in my opinion the lifeblood of Underoath, left the band before they started working on Chasing Safety and is starting up a new group called Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.
So I think Underoath has gone downhill, BUT, to each their own. Cheers! _________________

kind of like norma jean. their first singer who is on both their cds has probably the best range for that kind of music i think ive ever seen. hes super creative but he left shortly after bless the martyr kiss the child came out. i saw them live with their new singer and they were good, but not like their old singer. im interested to see how the new record turns out, although i really dont listen to much of that music anymore. their old singer has his own project called the chariot. it is really unique and you can listen to it at hxcmp3.com.
el, yea i saw underoath with dallas at cornerstone and then i saw them later with a replacement from some other band. so i lost interest |

I'm down with the hardcore. Some bands I like are Norma Jean/Luti-Kriss, Underoath, Haste the Day, As I lay Dying, Nodes of Ranvier, Dodgin' Bullets, American Tragedy (RIP), The Chariot, The Spirit That Guides Us, Training For Utopia, Ciana (RIP), This Runs Through, Still Breathing (RIP, girl vocalist that screams +++), Eso Charis, Sinai Beach. Some others that are really good that aren't quite hardcore: mewithoutYou, they're post-hardcore, the vocalist did some vocals on Norma Jean's Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste. Like David, I've heard people call them new metal or something, I don't know doesn't seem to fit them, but I like them. |

The new "Terror" Cd is starting to grow on me, at first i wasn't that impressed
with it's generic lyrics and it seems to lack some well timed and thought out break downs... but now it just reminds me of an older style of hardcore ... i give it a 6 out of 10...
"Saves the Day" RIPS ...
should be (Ripped into pieces) ... |
