i ve wondered the same thing, i think the only way to do it would be to put in a steam box and then bend it to how you like it, but then you would have no rail to turn on either, I dunno?? |

I took my old 41 cassett flat and built concave and kick tails out of epoxy filler (this really light power that you mix into epoxy to make it some what like bondo but a lot lighter). This process was fairly time consuming. I also cut notches out of the botom so the bottom looks like the hype and new integrity skates, Then i fiberglassed the bottom for more strenght, I was afraid it would turn out really heavy but weighs the same as my 43 gukin pro. I havent rode it yet. When i do i let you know how it rides. I was to do it again i would use a foam (like what surfboards are made of) and shape the concave and kick tail out of that and then glass over the top of that. So it can be done but i only did it because i have a beat up 01' 41 flat and a new skate.

Yes, we want to see some pics!
I think concave pads from blecha boards are not the best solution, because I want to have a Grip Deck. |

Sorry guys i dont have any type of a digital camera, I also tried making my own skate once but i just used regular plywood instead of making my own ply. I was heavy and i didnt put enough rocker into it. It ended up delaminating becasue i didn't fiberglass it correctly. I want to build one completey from scratch but i have been having trouble finding 1/8th in thick pieces of wood. I work at a marine supply store in seattle so i get fiberglass and epoxy really cheap. If anyone in the seattle area knows where to get sheets of 1/8th in wood i would love to know i have some new ideas i want to try out.

I'll see if i can bum one for a couple of days or something, well living up here in washington kinda blows, but finaly this weekend i'll get to go out and ride, and try the new deck, to bad the water will still be really cold. Washington is great except for that one month inbetween the snow and the water that kills me every year.
And I'll really try to get some pics for you guys.

Yes use foam it's easy to shape and it's light. Then fiberglass it with epoxy or if
you use polyurethane then you can use harz. Harz will melt most of the foams. |
