Thats not true. I think the timing couldn't be worse for the Demos to be sending a black man or a woman to represent them in the presidential race. Right now the country definately needs to have a Democratic president. It keeps things balanced to switch it up, I wouldn't want all Demo presidents either. But I don't think you are going to swing enough republicans to vote democrat when you give them the choice of one minority or the other. Now take into account old democrats who might be inclined to vote republican since they aren't ready for a woman or a black man in office (these are the people that lived through segregation and a time when a womans place was in the kitchen).
I'm not racist, nor am I sexist, but I don't think the country is ready for this yet. Now is not the time to try something new. They are making enough waves with it to get noticed so in 2012 people will have had enough time to get used to it. But I hope, for the countrys sake, that they can find a better candidate that can beat out a republican. |

The Chancellor of Germany is female. Canada had a female Priminister (for a short while), and we all know about Thatcher. Why America can't elect a female commander-in-chief is beyond me.....??
CNN made a good point, Hilary has the best political advisor money can't buy...her husband. I am a huge fan of Bill, so Hilary get's my vote for sure. _________________ Life's Kredo = "When the snake falls in love with the spagetti it's time to buy a new hat." & "I guess I need to whiskey up these corn flakes..and heroin up this Orange Juice." |

jonnyUTAH, don't get me wrong, I hope she wins. But I really don't think America is ready for it.
As far as other countries having female leads, good for them, but they aren't us. _________________

jonnyUTAH, just because it makes sense doesn't mean it will happen. I'll see you all back here on Nov. 5th, 2008, so we can see who gets to say "I told you so!" _________________

Hillary has a great chance of winning, it says "She is broadly popular with women, African-Americans, and other core groups in the Democratic Party," she was the first ever woman senate, and as was said above she has a hell of an advisor. Although she may be good, i think there might be some crazy dudes out there, who might be appauled by the thought of a woman running America, and along with the first woman president, we might have the first woman presedent assasination... heh. i dont think America is ready for it, but im sure she could do a good job at it. At least shes probly hit metapause by now heh. thats all we need an emotional leader... |

| Yeah, but I read she can get a bit feisty, I'm gonna keep my eye on Obama (another Dem. contender). I am registered independent, I vote for the issues at hand and who would be most effective (in my mind, at least) instead of party affiliation. |

-=AlexXx=-, first woman Senator???
Might want to get your facts straight.
1st woman senator was in 1922.
There has been at least one female senator in office since the late 70s. |

senorbueno, I think he was going off this comment from the link, "Six years after making history by winning a United States Senate seat as first lady.... She was the first "first lady" to become a Senator, meaning that she was the first to win a seat in the Senate while her husband was in office.
EDIT: But that doesn't make sense either because 6 years ago Bill was not President anymore. So maybe the first former presidents wife to get a seat on the senate? Who knows. All I know is if she is the Demo candidate I hope she wins. But really I hope they pick another candidate (not Obama either). |
