That would look sick,
I want to get something on either my shoulder or my side on my ribs. kind of under my arm.
I have no idea what i'd get though, it's a big commitment.

I would make the Pier a lot bigger. It is too small. No one will get that amount of detail even with a single Needle.
Also, you have a perfect horizon, but remember that a horizon also acts as a focal point. The horizon should point to your subject…..in this case, the surfer. As such, I would move the surfer down. I would also move the birds up higher and have them many different sizes. This will help add a third dimension of depth to your Tat.
Finally, I would not recommend a Blue back ground with Red Birds, there is not enough contrast with those colours. You need contrast so that the Birds stand apart from the back ground.
The key to good tats is to allow enough contrast so that they look good upclose and from a far.
If you want to see the single greatest examples of perfect tats….look at mine (hahahah) or go here:

While we're on the topic, anyone have any thoughts on a wakeskate tattoo? All I can see myself putting on my body is either something involving wakeskating, or something with gulf coast pride, my heart will always be where i grew up at.
So, any suggestions?

Yeah I would take that quiksilver logo off if that is the design you are set on. I once saw a guy with a volcom logo on his neck it made me laugh.

Jesse, don't do it, you'll regret it later. Stay with the wakeskate theme, but go a little deeper than just a silouette. It will be with you forever.

DoubleDown05 I would make sure he gets some practice tattooing before you let him touch your skin.

xboard32x, it is a machine and the gun is attached to it, along with the foot pedal.
DoubleDown05, does your friend do work at a shop or apprentice?
IMO I would rather pay the extra money to have someone with a sick portfolio do my work than a friend that is willing to do it for free. My artist charges me like 80 an hour, and I think it's worth every penny.
Also, set that picture as your background on your computer for a few weeks, and if you get sick of it, dont put it on your body. I've changed my mind numerous times by doing that.

jonnyUTAH, that guys work is amazing.
DoubleDown05, no offence and dont take it the wrong way, but from a surfers stand point, im not really feeling that design. if youre already sick of it as your background, definately dont put it on your body!
im getting a surf related tattoo hopefully next week as well. ill post up for sure. basically its going to be in rememberance of my father and a tattoo of where we used to always surf together.
