u-bolts work pretty well. but i use ( when i use them) a thinker set becasue i bend them pretty easy. but yeah man they work well for a 4$ set of nubs.

I think that is a great idea to put 90 degree gear box on to a vertical shaft... but on the other had its just one more thing that could go wrong on your winch. but is a cool idea fsure

Personal preference dude. i dont like to ride with fins at all but if you have a hard time landing switch on some tricks it might help for keep a fin on just the nose of your board. but try all option ...
