|
|
I just started wakeskating a few weeks ago. So far I feel pretty comfortable on the board carving back and forth and going from regular to switch. Now I'm trying to get the ollie down along with some other surface tricks. What should the boat speed be for these tricks? |

stevoaw, if you go too slow then the water will just absorb all your energy when you try and snap down and nothing will really happen, but if your going to fast then you wont be able to snap down into the water at all. _________________ JMU |

I ride 20-19, alittle faster if the wake is washed over on a boat, its mostly personal prefrence |

yep, first get the boat to go fast enough so that it's wake is clean.
That's the slowest speed you can go at, then go faster until you feel good riding at that speed.
You usually want to go at a certain speed for lip/flat tricks, and a bit faster for w2w stuff. Faster means more pop on the wake, and a bit shorter wake usually. _________________

stevoaw, rope length and boat speed go hand-in-hand. Don't go 25 with a 50' line! Use a rope length that is at the "best" part of your wake (not washed out, comfortable spacing between wakes for W2W) and then start slow and move up from there. You will eventually find a speed that you're comfortable with. Hope that helps.

I've gone 40 before.... the water was so choppy behind the boat from the propeller at that speed that I said f-it and let go. Lucky me, when the handle hit the water at that speed it splashed a ton of water in my face to make my bail off my wakeskate a completely blind one |
