i wouldnt try to slide plywood. imagine how fun it would be to remove splinters from sliding across a piece of wood @ 21 mph. A cheap way to cover it is to get some bathroom wall material from home depot. Its like the stuff you see on the lower part of public restrooms. 30 bucks per 4x8 sheet. You need to counter sink your screws, and make sure you get the screw heads down enough so that your board wont hit them. _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |

wakemitch, i dont know how to explain it. its just these sheets of plastic that people glue to walls so that if someone decides to piss all over everything it isnt so hard to clean up Its not hard to find. just look for sheets of plastic that cost 30 bucks, im sure if you ask someone who works there in that area of the store they will know what you are talking about.
it's the same stuff we used here:
countersinking the screws means you need a countersink drill out holes for each screw before you screw them down. a bit like this:

You can also use a lot of "liquid nails". It's basically a really strong glue. You just glue the plasic right on to the plywood. I built a box with it. Haven't used it yet, but it looks good, haha. |

big_dee45 - yea i dont know what your budget is like, but we build a box last sumer and the box is holding up good, but dont be stingy (spelling?) when it comes to the rail material. We where and we got this thin plastic sheeting instead of the thick stuff, well the box is still up but you can hit it cause there is nothing on top any more to slide.... so i recomend if it comes to paying a lil bit more money... do it in the beggining cause if you dont you will end up paying more in the end...
but post some pics when your done cause i am going to redo/build more rails in are creek come summer time... and i need some ideas...
Good luck man!!! |

I made a really long one and got two PVC pipes (big ones, like 6 in. diameter) and put caps on the ends like pontoons. I'll be honest, haven't gotten it wet yet so I don't know how it'll float, but in theory it looks good. haha. |

it was pretty thin. ~ 1/8 of an inch, maybe even less? its textured, but it slides really well. _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |
