derek, that's really a tricky call...I mean, was it O'brien who had the foresight to put seaman on their board?
Or was it all you and absolutely no encouragement from o'brien?
I'm just playin', yalls... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Wow... i guess i should of been paying more attention to this thread. because.... this is getting pretty damn funny.
Its pretty obvious the deck was a blatant Cassette rip off. Sadly i can pretty much tell you all how this went down.
1. Obrien gets a Cassette Bi and ships it off to Asia.
2. The tell the manufacturer that is what they want but bigger, and that the tails are snapping because of flex so they need to come up with some sort of solution for the problem.
3. Manufacturer knocks off the deck, "keep in mind these people dont even really know what a wakeskate is"
4. Manufacturer looks the deck over and places plastic stops to keep the deck from flexing too much and breaking... Problem solved in their eyes.
5. They box up the sample and send it back to the USA, and in 2 months it arrives, the people at Obrien look it over and decide that its just as good as what they knocked off or even better in their opinion. "I highly doubt that any rider even rode the sample"
6. They give the ok for production and they knock out a bunch of these cheap Asia, non thought out piles of junk ready for one of their new "target market"
Im sure that it didn't go down exactly like this but i think most of you get the point as to how these companies work when it comes to manufacturing products over seas. Most of the product development is done over there by people who know nothing about wakeskates or wakeskating. The ONLY reason Hype has had so much success with manufacturing their product over seas is because Herb is in that factory 7 months out of the year watching over those people like a hawk. _________________ arson-wake.com |
