hey, im thinking about making a flat wakeskate in shop class but making it with less plys and a little smaller and then coating it in fiberglass. good idea or bad?

frawley, Good til you got to the fiberglass part... find a better sealant. But I do like your idea of experimenting with smaller lengths... try like a 37 Shocked

what about like carbon fibr, do a real thin ply like 4-5 plys then lay cabron fiber sheets on the bottom and coat it with resin, so it would be strong cause of the carbon fiber but like really flexable. Just thinking out loud, im retarded

Carbon fiber would be sick im sure you could buy it but it would be sooo expensive

liquid, carbon fiber would be very expensive, and not a durable as some other materials, I've snapped carbon fiber skim boards and it's not a pretty sight...

When dealing with fiberglass, just be careful and patient, dont rush thats what messes people up every time.

it was just an idea. i used to have a carbon fiber skateboard (lib tech) with the same thing (wood core with carbon outside) and it worked great so i thought it would be good on a skate also, guess not

they dont hold up to cars though, I had a nice longboard set up for slaloming and it got run over. bought a new one and stopped racing traffic
