Uhh, I've only been wakeskating for a little while, but I can do pretty consistent kickflips on a skateboard, so how hard do you think it should be to learn them on a wakeskate if I can ollie pretty decently on one? Just wondering.

I wouldn't mind to see one of Hampson's flips either. It seems really tough not to 'mob' them. Everyone i've tried, the only really close ones were mobbed. I would love to really be able to flick it like a skateboard.

Hampson's got a slight case of "the mob" too, though. It still looks like he kicks his foot off to the side to flip it, instead of flicking it with his toe. I don't know, when I think of a good flick I think of like Andrew Reynolds, Chris Cole and Tom Penny. I think I actually saw a picture in Wakeboarding magazine of some guy who looked like he was flicking his foot off the nose, like a skateboard, but I'm not sure.

heres my tips for doing a kickflip, first you need to put your back foot on the tail like normal and your front foot a little more towards the tail then when you normaly stand and with your toe on the middle of the board and make sure your heel is not hanging off the edge. then you edge away from the wake into the flats kinda hard. flatten off and right as you flatten off pop a big ollie and once the board is out of the water kick your front foot out to the side and down a little(not like a skateboard where its off the nose) pull your feet out of the way enough so the board doesnt hit them, watch the board flip and when it comes back around put your feet back on and try to have them wide so you dont slip out. then just ride away. a hell of a lot easier said then done. i hope this helps and im not sure i got everything 100% right yet becuase im still working on getting them every time but this seems to be the best way as of right now. also if you are behind something with a small wake do them from the inside of the wake out so you can get used to flipping it and then take them out into the flats later. i hope i help someone

stussy, i think that you can do stylish kickflips right now, look at dany hampsons or however you spell his name. everyone says his are very stylish but i agree the boards are not where they need to be right now but they will get better as the sport continues to grow

What about boards that are shaped just like a big skateboard deck on top, but like a wakeskate on the bottom? That seems like it would give them a "skatier" feel. I don't know if anyone's tried that, though.

Cassette concaves are pretty similar to a skateboard deck on top, and a wakeskate on the bottom.
