cut out just a few feet and pull the rope in towards your hip. spin the board with your back foot and spot it with your front foot make sure to watch the board and catch it when its rotated the shuv it when you land make sure you bend your knees and land with your feet in normal riding position. |

yu wanna make sure when yu kick it that yu intiate it with both youre feet keep youre feet rotating the board till about 45 degrees then pull youre feet up let teh board rotate it adn catch it before yu land it will be easier to land also make sure yu dont keep youre arm extended and when yu catch the board try to get youre feet spread apart it will help with youre balance, good luck _________________ You only live life once so live it to the fullest

Sk8WakeOrDie,
I think the most important part is landing with your feet in the same position as when you started the trick. I have got myself into a REALLY bad habit of landing with my feet real close together.. this really decreases your chances of landing the move. If you land with your feet apart its alot more stable on the landing.
Do you have access to a trampoline? If so that will help out alot. |

gate-rider, consider re-reading before you post. also, it would be appreciated if you took the time to put the extra letter in the word "you". |

A pop-shuv you want to ollie then shuv in a quick 1-2 step almost at the same time so that you scoop the board behind you and send it into a 180 spin. At first it seemed my shuvs weren't rotating, so I recommend throwing it pretty hard and when you see it coming around stomp it.
P.S. throw it out in front of you and lean back on your landing dragging your hand to stabilize if needed.
P.S.S. Good luck homeboy! _________________ dbanana wrote:

pop and push the tail back with your back foot, stay over the board, and stomp it. keep your hand in the middle of the handle and down. spot your landing. |

*spot your landing*
-=AlexXx=-, classic
spining the board wont be the problem, it's landing ^^
3 things to think about like say that to yourself just before doing the trick to have it in mind:
1- land with feet apart
2- bend knees on landing to absorb and get more balance
3- keep handle close to your lead hip during the whole trick
and that goes for pretty much everything... each time I eat it it's 90% cause one of those 3 things was missing _________________

Another thing I found when I was first learning Pop Shuvs was to cut out heelside, with body facing the wake. Cut out about halfway and count to three, one, two, pop....you'll be able to feel a difference in your speed if you can pop it on three. It will help you get the feel for the trick and make it a bit easier to land, once you have it dialed that way, do it everywhere else, on the wake, over something, etc. I had the same problem vance was speaking of, keeping the feet too close together on the landing. Sometimes helps to practice stomping them with the right technique on carpet. I still cant stick them EVERY single time on the water, but pretty close. _________________ woo. |

thirdcoast, Good idea mentioning a count like that. It helped me when I was learning them to count and get some rhythem down.
Also, I know everyone will disagree, but you don't have to worry about popping it up so much as around at first. It was easier to learn for me by just kind of sliding the board around and getting used to the rotation (plus my first "skate" was a skimboard), then popping higher after that. Oh, and make sure you keep the handle centered and at your lead hip. |

Jonesie, It's like a skateboard pretty much. I learned a good shuv on a skateboard by doing what I do on the water. |

jonesie, if you have a fin on you'll need to get the board out of the water high enough so that fin will clear. However, a while back I met this kid that wakeskated and he'd ride with one fin, so on the "finless" end, he'd do his shoveits. It was easier for him (and probably almost any beginner) because you don't need to ollie as much. I mean, you could look at a really old leslie kent shoveit (on a blindside wakeboard with BS traction) and it barely cleared the water, almost as if she didn't ollie it. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Not without you looking in your WBM library on the 1998 wall and scanning the sequence <3 _________________ √ |
