i need some opinions, do you think plastic sheeting(ice hockey dasher boards plastic) will work for the sliding surface on a box? i am planning on making a stationary box that will be either 24 or 32 feet long and 2 feet wide.

yeah I always look at the boards when I am in practice or during a game and think how good of material it would be for a box.

yeah i know its steep, but the stuff will last a long time. its 1/4 inch thick. im thinking the money wont be an issue, i have two other guys i ride with and we all pitch in. we also get all the wood for free. i guess what i am looking for is, has anyone else used something similar? what kind of material does OWC use?

The material at owc seems just like the side boards for a hockey rink, if the money is not an issue I would definitely do it

seven11dmd This stuff will slide so much better than trex, and a 12 ft piece of trex deck that 4in wide cost 20 bucks so the cost might come out around the same price.

naw wakeskatefooo, they mean the stuff they mean the PVC sheeting on the boards, not that fake ice crap. I'd suggest using Lexan. Crazy fast and really durable, it's used on most of the new snowboard boxes built now. But it's expensive, quite a bit more than PVC. More durable, harder, and faster though - if money aint a problem I'd go with that.

BLP010, trexx can be bought at home depot, or other hardware stores....its the plastic decking material.....but if its 20 bucks for a 12ft section (its only like 6inch widE), it is probably better to go with the pvc sheeting.

I'm telling you, use lexan. especially for snowboard boxes. Ask any of the park staff at a really good mountain - they don't use PVC sheeting anymore.

s34n, imo, lexan is too slick of a surface. its perfect for snowboarding(since ur hitting it at half the speed) but i like a slower and more stickier surface when sliding a wakeboard or skate

The stuff at OWC is Nylon and it is around $10-$15 a sq. ft.

Where do you get the hockey dasher board stuff?
