get a www.hypersonic-pc.com if your going to get a windows formated laptop. however if you dont specifically need windows for school work, and you dont play pc games, a powerbook is definitely a consideration.

judging by the fact that your getting a laptop, your not a gamer, so just get a powerbook.

yeah i was also thinkin of a powerbook. the only problem is: DOES it have power? this going to be mainly for editing/music and i was lookin at the 15" powerbook and it said it only had a 1.5GHz processor...that doesnt seem all that fast, but then again i dont really know that much about computers.

you cant compare the speed of an apple to the speed of a pentium or whatever. Even though it says 1.5 GHz, thats a different type of proccessor than a pentium or intel or whatever the pc ones are called. the powerbooks are plenty fast.

i am typing this on a 15" G4 1.5 GHz powerbook and it is awesome. just make sure you up the ram. im at 512 right now, but am thinking about going to 1GB. I hear that makes alot of improvements.

Plus apple's OSX is far better than windows. No spyware and that crap. Plus if youll be editing videos, apples are very well known for that and come with some programs to do it. And as far as music goes, i love itunes and my ipod.

Don't buy a mac if you are looking to game though. Not much comes this way.

the one you first listed is beyond what you want. you could get something much cheaper and it'll function better than good for what you want to do.

just depends on waht you do to maintain it. my parents have a 650mhz that will do what you want to do, i just maintained it well enough. (it might not anymore since they prob trashed it and installed crap).

cool, i think im gonna get the 15" powerbook. im hopin that santa will split the cost with me so it shouldnt be too bad. and ive only ever dealt with windows crap and all i have heard about macs is good stuff. i dont game at all so theres no loss there and it'll be nice to have an OS that doesnt crash every other hour. thanks guys
