I know its possible.

Lollar, Unleashed Wakeboard Mag Live Streamed most of the event on Facebook, I was watching the finals at about 12:30 am here in South Africa, I missed the end of the finals because I had to pick up my wife from a bachelorette, but you can re-watch the Facebook live streams.
Was really cool of them do that. Makes you think... a European Wake mag sends someone over to the states to live stream the whole event yet the local US wake mags maybe take one or two insta shots or an insta vid if you're lucky.
Props to Unleashed! _________________ AKA Taco

Yeah. They cover more surfing this yeah than wakeskating. |

I highly doubt Unleashed sent someone to Battle Falls just to point a shaky smartphone at the contest. Most of the time those guys are in Florida for Surf Expo. I personally don't mind waiting for a quality recap video. Kids these days and their instant-gratification...

Quote: | Kids these days and their instant-gratification... | , tad, while I agree with the surf expo part of your comment I just wanted to point out that the full-recap videos have often been short/sweet. they are awesome, shot amazing, edited very well, but there are many of us that would love to see MORE of what actually went down. the Rockstar recaps are always almost half footage of interviews. although I do appreciate them, I am adding my vote to a stream to increase the amount of coverage (nothing to do with it being instant, in fact I would rather rewatch the stream later, at my convenience, but with more coverage) |

Plus, i think live streams are a different way for fans to connect to the sport and event. Surfing has a number of live web streams for their events. The pro tour actually did that a long time ago, like 03 or 04, and i remember watching the wakeskating event and being stoked! it's just cool to see the full event...i think it's important that there are folks that even want to see the whole event! Those are the people who really care. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I'm all for having a live stream. We talked about incorporating it multiple times when I helped out with the tour. We have to remember this is wakeskating and these are grass roots contests. Having a live feed out at places like Nick's would be pretty expensive if done with the proper equipment. The tour is set up for putting the money back into the riders pockets and unfortunately that means sacrificing luxuries like live feeds.
I agree with you Esnow. I'm always tuning into the WSL. I didn't make it to Suwannee or Battle Falls this year and the new set up last weekend looked fun to watch. But I couldn't stomach the facebook feed. It felt like watching the contest from the eyes of Keith Lant after two bottles of Fireball. I'm just going to be a grateful grandpa and settle for the recap, haha.

you can buy a 200 dollar phone gimbal to give ol shakey hands and live feed some steady shots
as far as live vs recap

I can see how streaming the event might be a little bit much, but why not videos like this:

This is what I want. I don't care how shaky or how shiznackle the music, just give me some raw clips of what went down. |

I loved this.
Wakeskating is just way to cool and hipster to live stream.
Were so edgy.
