Is the tour happening this year? I haven't heard anything all year. The Wakeskate tour has been posting pics on Instagram, but they won't reply to people asking about the tour. Seems weird.

I hope the Wakeskate tour is still alive. It has been really cool to follow the last couple of years. But things don't seem to last in wakeskating

Doesn't seem like much of anything is going on so far this year for wakeskating.

shiznackle

If its true hopefully this opens the crews up for more trips, and gatherings like NCC, Retention, etc.

Most people just get to spectate via edits anyways, so who cares to see less ads and banners in the background of some sweet maneuvers Rolling Eyes

Were people saying that the tour was weird last year?

The whole canada stop seemed pretty weird, never heard what went on there, but the edit seemed to just pass over the venue change like it was nothing. WSM not being able to set up, etc.

I have been told that if there is a tour this year, that there will only be two Florida stops.

I would like to see a video contest like x-games real snow. Give everyone a month and see what they can get for a two minute edit

this.

& what was all that drama with the tour & Alliance? Was it Alliance?

I'd be excited to get answers. Seems like there are a lot of great questions in wakeskating lately and nobody will answer us.

Wasn't the tent thing kind of answered? One magazine is paying for a spot and the WSM expected a bro deal.

Tige had a video contest--Andrew pastura had a rad edit!

Wasn't it just that though? Nothing but some crazy wind? Plus the spot was very tame if I remember compared to Gridiron.

If there is internet access at locations it would be sweet to get a stream this year. Footage from South Africa Tour would be cool too.

Lychee, unfortunately because we the wakeskaters in SA are running the tour ourselves we don't have much budget for video edits (ie getting guys to film and edit) We have the odd GoPro Clip but not enough to do something substantial that would showcase it the the right light.

This is our first year doing the tour so we are still learning as we go, we want to make it bigger and better each year, and hopefully have it at a level where the international guys will be coming down during there winter to compete in some of the stops.

I do have some photos from the first two events that I'll place in a different thread.

On the topic of this thread, I really hope there is a wakeskate tour this year, would be a sad day if it is canned.

Can't say much right now but there will certainly be quality stuff coming out this year and some interesting developments for wakeskating.

Jama, it isn't hype related. Just some things are not set in stone; others are not my plans to disclose.

My intentions were not to be coy. I have my own worries for wakeskating, and people being left in the dark isn't ever fun. My post here was to make clear that there are things planned for wakeskating this season and there will be cool stuff to appreciate.

Is it still cold where you guys are or what? You're seriously annoyed that someone who is working on exactly what you're asking for (wakeskate content) won't give you the details on their project yet? Rolling Eyes

I'm pumped to see what it is!

I remember all the fighting & bickering that used to happen here during the winter because everyone was eggy from not riding Laughing I kinda miss that...

Now I'm not completely in the loop on what's happening with the Tour, but it's a safe bet that we're not gonna see one happening this year. It's a gigantic bummer of enormous proportions. We all loved going to the events & watching everyone ride, then stoking out on the videos afterwards. It's been one of the best things in wakeskating since it started & fickle sponsors seem to have taken it from us, if only for the year... It's only the beginning of summer now, but I have heard the echoes of rumors about The Wakeskate Tour coming back strong in 2016, although it's relatively little solace for us in the here & now.

In the spirit of The Wakeskate Tour, the originial Retention, & even further back to the Raging Pull, I'm throwing a wakeskater's wakeskate event. A chance for everyone to feel what it's like to jump down the Suwannee drops & get cheered on by all their friends. Wakeskaters are social animals, we revel in the company of others of our kind, especially when there's water around. If you've ever been sitting on the sidelines at a WST event (or been watching the video recaps online) & wanted to give it a shot, but didn't want to get edged out after just one short heat, now's your time to get out there & do it for fun...

And obviously, we're going to party after Cool

Wakeboarding killed the wakeskate tour. If you strap your feet into a board on the water, this is your fault. /s
