Let's say I'm building a jon boat for wakeskating, what should the minimum horsepower of the motor be? I know the Kearns have some old 35 horse Johnson they use, what else do I look for? _________________ Skeight Junk |

What about boat width? Plenty of discussion on motor size and length but nothing on how wide one should be. |

You need to think about the hull shape as well, def test drive before you buy if possible and feel out its stability and hole shot. You'll know as soon as you step in the boat while afloat of it'll work. But keep in mind as far as width, a jet ski is far more narrow than a jon boat, at minimum as wide as a 12ft boat. _________________ They call me Dr. Jones
