What are everyone's thoughts on wakekate specific shoes? I'm a senior in an industrial design program and I'm considering this as an area for my thesis project. I know the shoe topic cycles up every once in a while on here, but it always seems to just be what does everyone use. The answer seems to always be, what the pros are wearing or whatever works. I know there're one or two of you with stockpiles of Cassette X DVS Daytons around too.

I really don't think so, I've had wakeskate specific shoes, but I prefer other shoes. I think pretty much any skate shoe that doesn't have big puffy sides works pretty well.

I agree with Gnarly Dancer, I've had several Reefs and DVS wake skate specific shoes, TJ Maxx Ross and Marshals 15$ no name shoes, poofy reguar skateboarding shoes, and finally started rocking low cut Nike SB's after the braatas came out and have not changed since. All the other shoes worked fine for the money, but I think the shoes like the Nike Satire and the Janoski are the way to go, for my taste at least. I don't think there is a huge demand in the spore currently for a skate specific shoe. All the old mesh DVS just fell apart to fast, then reefs fell apart, the cheap skate shoes fell apart, but I can go a whole year with a pair of Nike's. Solid. Smash
