|
|
Heys guys whats up, just thought i would join this forum and find out what you guys think?
Im thinking about starting up a wakeskate brand called Distinct Wakeskates, It would be an Australian based brand based out of my garage until it gets too much which i would then start getting them manufactured(If it ever gets big). I live on the coast of Victoria so its not a big wakeskating community but i would be happy to ship boards over seas and im also willing to travel. I would start out by having Blank decks but after a while putting graphics on the bottom.
Boards would be about $250 - $300 each plus shipping.
what do you guys think about this, Below are a few logos i have thought of, I know 3 of them are similar but i was just playing round with that design. (They are just rough designs, i will make the final one proper)
Please Leave Feedback!
Thanks

I like the penis on the bottom left....for reals though, just show the board and don't worry about the design. It is all about about riding.
Are you this same guy?

Yeah, those definitely look like dicks. Keep working on that.
You seem WAY to concerned about image based on these couple of threads. Just make good skates.
International shipping will not be cheap and it's going to be hard to find anyone overseas willing to take the risk of buying a $300 deck THEN have to pay for shipping. You should focus on the market in your own country. I know it's expensive to get imports over there so you'll probably have some kind of price advantage to work with if you do things right. Might not have a scene in your own town, but there has to be some shredders around that giant country of yours and I'm sure they'd be proud to ride a quality Aussie-made skate.

Dasher, Honestly man so far, all we really know is that you're not very confident about your ideas. You've changed the name of your 'brand' several times, and you're probably not going to stick with "Distinct." I swear I'm not trying to get you down or be a dick, but seriously. Think about these things. If you want to make wakeskates, make wakeskates. Figure out your name and all that, make dick logos or whatever kind of logos, and SHOW us. Stop asking us if what you're doing is okay. It's outright ruining your validity.
I don't at all believe in you. Prove me wrong, or I'll be that jerk who was right.

I definitely understand how that goes. I haven't been on the water in weeks just due to life being in the way.
The focus of any board company should be to make good skates. With a name like Distinct, the best thing you can do for your brand is to make sure the skates really standout and the rest will fall in to place.

Or you can end up going with Penis Wakeskates. I created a logo using your design that seems to work well.

GnarShredd, Yeah, im currently at school 5 days a week as well as working 2 jobs and then training for soccer 2 times a week and then playing 2 games of soccer, so i dont have alot of spare time but now that im about to finish school i should have alot more time.
For the logo im going with the top right, i like the design alot more then the others, the first boards i make will be blank with the logo on the griptape, and should be $250
Also what is your opinions on fins? should i include fins? the boards will have the holes pre drilled when you buy them but im not sure if i should include the fins with the boards, may mean an extra $15-$25 on the board depends on the company that i have found that will do custom ones with my own logo

No fins included. Many people seem to ride without and if someone wants them, you can either sell separately or they'll find some others somewhere else. Plenty of people have extra fins floating around.
