I have been on and off the last four years with starting my own company, I have graphics, logos, and everything ready to go. I always stop when I think about getting sued by Archer, or someone breaking themselves off on one of my boards. How do the rest of you approach this?

Whelp, you don't make bindings, so you're good there. Smile

Actually, jason messer sued the archer brands regarding the use of patented wakeskate technology. Another area in which you're safe.

I can't speak about insurance. Is that why every board has that user warning?

I have just noticed that all the newer brands don't have the warning on the board.

A wakeskater will never sue you, but a young(-18.) wakeskater's greedy ass parents will sue you for everything you are worth. I say cover your ass any way possible.

Yeah, I have talked to a few people and my guess is that most brands do not have insurance for their product?

wakeshredder, when jason developed his traction pads, he had a really nice patent creatred to protect his technology. Some of the developments coveres were (i believe) a roughened aurface, arch support and kicktail. This means some of the wakesurfers fell under this technology. I should add that there were measurements/size requirements, like the kicktail had to be a certain height, etc.

As it goes, herbie fletcher and astrodeck had some of of this tech (can't remember all of what anymore), so some claims were invalid.

In short, i think jason messer is an incredible human.

Here's some info--lots of legal jargon and such.

harrypotter, You just need some simple liability insurance. Google 'Small Business Liability Insurance' and you should find everything you need.
