tapeworm, I think wakeskating behind a kite is sick, do you mind if I move this post into the General Wakeskating forum?

Sick hardflip Birthday

EDIT: I went ahead & moved it up...

tapeworm, I don't know why people would hate on this it looks super rad I want to try really bad. Is it easier to land flip tricks because of the kite lifting you up?

Lollar, All of the kiteskaters (Is 'kiteskater' the preferred nomenclature?) that I've met seemed to think that wakeskaters wouldn't be stoked on what they're doing, simply because kiteboarding is cooler than wakeboarding, but kiters still look up to wakeboarding, while wakeboarders make fun of kiteboarding, even though kiteboarding > wakeboarding.

The word kite starts to sound weird if you say it too many times... Smash

haha cheers guys thanks for the love. yeah sure, if u think its appropriate in the wakeskating section go for it. I definatly find it easier than behind the boat, as I have only skated once or twice behind a boat. but the upward pull definatly helps... and so does the fact I can try a trick 100 times in a session and not have to wait for my poor mates to keep turning around to come pick me up. Smile

Just asked a few people in my kite community, everyone of them said "it's all just kiting." Frankly, I love this answer.

That's pretty much it. The only real hate in the kite world comes from the hardcore wakestyle riders (which also encompasses skating). They hate on the more freestyle riders who launch the kite and just dangle from the strings and take their boards off of their feet and stuff. I'm not a fan of that style either but I don't really hate too much. It's just fun to get out on the water.

I'm hoping to get a skate this year since I'm finally getting better behind the kite, seems like a blast.

heres another clip from the wakskate/kiteskate master Jason stone.

tapeworm, Looking forward to it! Would be fun to slash some waves on a skate too. What deck are you riding? Are there any kite skates out there that would carry over to cable riding well too that you know of?

I ride the airush wakeskate, and Jason stone rides the cabrihna one. both are made specifically for the kite. they have less rocker which helps with planning easier. ive tried normal wakskates behind the kite but they are too sluggish generaly due to more rocker. I would use the board you use behind a boat at cable though, rather than a kite specific one, although a kite one will work, will just feel quite flat.

tapeworm, Yeah, pretty much figured. I need a new skate and can't even really afford that right now, let alone one for kite and one for cable...

just get the flattest one you can ride for boat then mate, should work, you will just need a bigger size kite than you normally would
